  • Sturgis 2010

SDSUFans.com was (unofficially) represented at the Sturgis Bike Rally. I ran into West River Jack and we inspected some of the places of business to make sure everything was on the up-and-up. Saw some SDSU gear (easy to spot in a sea of black T-shirts and leather!). Beer temperatures were correct; servers appropriately costumed; dancers....well, it's Sturgis! Inspection passed.

It was great to have JD in Sturgis. I'm pretty certain that KarmaKid was here too. Was anybody else from SDSUFans.com here? Do I need to start planning a mixer for SDSUFans.com members at the 2011 Sturgis Rally?

Not a bad idea, WestRiver! Will filbert approve having SDSUFans.com printed on black T-shirts? How about the stretch SD on a black do-rag? This has real possibilities.

Everyone needs to go to Sturgis. You'll feel like you're an 'extra' on the set of a grade B movie being shot at an overseas location with Quentin Tarrentino directing. It's a million laughs but a little bit goes a long way (like, one day is plenty). Some of the finest people-watching in the world. And, some of the finest art displays -- no, not the tattoos, THE BIKES.

One funny moment: At various intervals along the sidewalk, the City of Sturgis has placed benches. As the crowd slowly walks along the sidewalk admiring the bikes, you pass a bench on which an old-timer (probably had been to most of the 70 rallies) was sitting up, dozing. A guy behind me said "Wall Drug" and everybody caught the joke (for those who haven't been to Wall Drug, for years there's been a bench inside the 'main' entrance on which a plaster old guy is sitting and people have their picture taken with him).

Somehow, I'm ready for football to start.

Since North Dakota doesn't have a Sturgis, I see Coach Bohl drove his school-colors bike to the Rally.

I'm not sure who this is. It might be other folks from NDSU:

You can see by the caption that this picture comes from 2009. I have seen this vehicle in Sturgis annually for several years. Be careful with your comments fellas. This isn't a smack thread.

Kind of looks like Ron Gardenhire, or Kenny Rogers. No comment on the passenger.

              I was there in spirit!

Glad you all are keeping things nice and orderly up there.
