I see AJ getting a nice comfortable 25 point lead and then using the second half as a practice scimmage for the mangey elephants and the grizleys.

I'll throw my smack out there - trying to "keep it civil".

I would like to throw a 'thread within a thread' out there, if I may. (If I may'nt - I apologize in advance!!! I know it's not a real word, settle down Oat fans)

I would title it, "Since U've been gone". Since our friends from the south likely haven't stepped foot on campus, much less in Brookings County some of the sights have changed.

What are some of the good(s), bad(s) and ugly(s) that have changed in Brookings since we saw the Coyotes last? (May not belong in this category, but the thought entered my mind today)

Performing Art Center (PAC) 2008 - Wellness Center building (2008) - Student Union expansion (2007? - Latest addition to open 2010) - New dorms (Caldwell - 2006?) 3 new ones to open 2010 - Innovation campus & research park - What else?

With my quick math & lazy research, over $300 million in building projects in Brookings from 2004 - 2009. Over 500 single family homes built in Brookings. Qdoba, Quiznos, Bravo's, Lowe's, Hampton, Larson Ice Arena?

            What am I forgetting?

Dykhouse, Frost remodel. Did they remodel the visitor locker rooms in Frost. I know they redid the home teams.

One student arrested for peeing out the door of Frost and one student turned away for telling the UPD to F#$K Off when told to turn his shirt inside-out.

Both, students of THEEEEEE University of South Dakota. I know I'd be a proud parent.

The fact that there was only one arrest and one person not allowed to enter Frost surprises me a little...the fact that they call USD home, doesn't surprise me in the least.

Be careful about picking on USD for students getting arrested for taking a leak. The SD Supreme Court (SDSU alum David Gilbertson is the Chief Judge) on Feb 3, 2010, issued an opinion in State v. Ludeman, a case involving an arrest by SDSU campus cops who charged a fellow with public urination. While the opinion doesn't exactly state the defendant was an SDSU student, I think it's clear he was [student cops stopped the guy after observing him get out of a vehicle, take a leak on the car's tire, walk toward a dorm, pause by a light pole and vomit....]

Here's a link to the opinion. The case actually involves a serious search and seizure issue and discusses the authority of student cops who are not certified law enforcement officers.

The best part about being able to stand while peeing is that the world is your urinal. However, you have to be selective in yours spots if you don't want to get in trouble. Gravel roads are fine, an arena with 6,000 other people standing around, not so much.

One of my good friends (SDSU student) has been arrested for public urination twice. Both were over a year ago but we still make fun of him quite a bit.

Taking a leak in the Metrodome at the trough is less offending than peeing on the side of the road, in my opinion. Shoulder to shoulder under bright lights with a line of 30 guys or all by yourself on the side of a building at 11:00 at night. Which is potentially more offending?

Perhaps he should have brought his girls to the Summit League tourney last year. Or perhaps the WNIT games versus Indiana or Creighton. Maybe the Oakland game in Frost last year or versus Missouri.

It you can't tell, it gets my goat that the USD staff and fans that were so ready to ridicule SDSU for making the move to DI are now right on our coattails trying to take advantage. Its a bunch a crap. A spade is a spade. If you went over to Vermillion tonight you wouldn't find 100 fans of USD women's basketball.
I'm taking the liberty of moving my thought out of the USD women's basketball thread and into the smack thread. Seems more appropriate. JackMD seems a bit distraught over certain enthusiasm surrounding the recent State/U game, so I thought I'd right a wrong...

                            Dear SDSU,

Thank you for having the courage and vision to make the transition to Division I. It is still quite astonishing that your administration, student body and alumni base were able to join in a unanimous front to make that vision come to fruition, especially when faced with an equally undivided, but loathsome and cowardly mass of naysayers led by the USD administration. Men for many generations to come will certainly tell their children stories of your epic bravery and, of course, your remarkable generosity. Not only did you withstand the putrid ridicule spewed by detractors from USD, but you thrived and emerged brilliantly with a roadmap suitable for your ungrateful sibling’s consumption.

It is upon this backdrop that this author struggles mightily to comprehend where USD finds the audacity to reach for the pedestal SDSU now occupies – a platform previously scoffed at by USD’s leadership – without first paying due appreciation for SDSU’s demonstrated valor before, during and beyond its Division I transition. Though my words hardly satisfy the level of eloquence expected of one man speaking on behalf of many others, please rest assured that there are scores of USD supporters out there who revere SDSU’s visionaries in a manner typically reserved for the gods. Your efforts are noticed, and it is a powerful truth that any fruit USD manages to harvest from the Division I tree is of a line rooted in SDSU’s genius.

                            Yours truly,
                            Yotemeal

Now how many of you predicted a SDSU win by more points than they actually won by. I would say the vast majority. That is why it's hard to take most SDSU's fans predictions seriously. No one would have thought USD would be ahead by 6 points fairly late in the first half. If you wanna play the woulda, shoulda, coulda game if anything the final margin was actually wider than what most of the game reflected.

Hey Rip Van winkle aka Coyote fan. The game is over. It ended about 9 pm on Monday Feb 15th. No one wants to read your analiysis of SDSU Fans fore thoughts, present thoughts, or after thoughts. I suggest you read : Fifty Yards to the Outhouse, By WILLIE MAKEIT. Its a book about USD.
