What amazes me is that David Duke took some time away from his busy schedule running around the world denying the Holocaust ever happened and typed a post on the ORU board.
Rev. Roberts and his successor school leaders apparently have not done a great job establishing a sense of fair play and social tolerance in their basketball program and fan base.
I realize this is a smack thread, but by showing our intolerance of the religion of ORU, are we any better than them? I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
“I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I’m with isn’t it, and what’s it seems scary and wierd. It’ll happen to you.” — Abe Simpson
Occasionally, it is a useful and informative thing to give people enough rope to hang themselves - - if I may be forgiven that metaphor in a thread like this.
Intolerant people can't help themselves, no matter whose school's colors they wear. Sometimes its best to let them self-identify, so that others can judge their other statements in that context in the future.
Cowbell gets a Warning -- David Duke "jokes" aren't funny.
Also, handy smack tip for future reference: if you're typing the word "Holocaust," you aren't doing smack.
Finally, it is rarely a productive thing to drag discussions--especially smacky ones with bigoted overtones--from one discussion board to another.
So, as friend Zooropa suggests, we now close this thread and move on.
