Some people called Roller Derby non-stop entertainment, too: Lots of full-body slams and false starts and headlong runs into the rail and mindless elbow-throwing just for the mayhem. Problem was, they all ended up going in circles and finished the same place every time they put on the skates. Very soon it just got to be a boring jumble going round and round.
Bring something other than NDSU#1-UNDHellonEarth-SDSUsucks to the derby and let the hilarity begin.

That would pee off the Canadians, then they would have to get the approval of the whole country of Canada instead of two tribes. Plus what would you use for a logo. The Vancouver Canucks of the NHL still haven't gotten that right.

I think because of the great potato growing area they should be the Fighting PotatoHeads.

Obviously you use an outline of the entire country or just a picture of a Canadian

How about the Canucks?

That would pee off the Canadians, then they would have to get the approval of the whole country of Canada instead of two tribes. Plus what would you use for a logo. The Vancouver Canucks of the NHL still haven't gotten that right.

Up until that last post, I never knew LakesBison was a female. By (her) fire I always envisioned Lakes as some crusty, old, angry man. Wow, i won't be able to sleep now contemplating this revelation. Picked up a Sioux jersey for my husband???

That post by Lakes finally got me to post on this board for the first time in almost a year.

Fighting Buffalo? After all, UND is copying and following our Bison friends, much like the Me2U Coyotes follow (but never catch) the Jacks in South Dakota. Actually, UND should go back to the Flickertails. And then blast away those overdone Fighting Sioux logos, one by one, for the next 50 years.

Sorry, but that name is already taken by Bethany College of Lindsborg, KS...Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I dont think Bethany has a patent or a copyright on the mascot, so I think UND could do this one. Also Luther College has the Fighting Norse, and that might be more appropriate since ND has the highest precentage of Norwegian-American people as part of total population or at least they did have. Demographics change so could be wrong here. But heck Fighting Swedes will work for me.
