Yes New Orleans is on the same level as Iowa Sate right...

I had been working on this long post about all kinds of things, ranging from talking crap on the dump and playing in a HS gym to that astonishing collapse at home to UND to end the football season, to Title IX compliance and the special treatment from the BOR, to the incredibly rigorous basketball schedule, (check ESPN - udot has SEVEN games listed on their schedule - SEVEN!!! That means a lot of teams that don't even register on a real schedule - both men's and women's) but I have come to the conclusion that I really don't care anymore. Its too exhausting to try to give a flip about udot and their astonishing success in their epic transition. I am imposing a smack ban on myself as to avoid making myself dumber by reading Coyote Fan's posts. This will free up some much needed time to stare at the wall, which is much more productive than arguing about udot.

The Dump was the third worst field/facility in the NCC slightly behind St. Cloud's old field and Morningside's field (before they left the NCC). The turf was horrible and the lighting was worse. On top of that, the teams have to be on the same side of the field because the brains that built the dome forgot to give each sideline enough room for teams to stand. Even the sideline each team shares isn't large enough to handle one regular size team. You have to duck under the stands to sit on a bench. Playing basketball in the Dome is an even worse experience. You know, that is if you were implying in your statement that the Dome was a much superior place to play than the facilities at SDSU.

You haven't stepped foot in the Dome in 20+ years it sounds like.

And no one argues that the Dome isn't an atrocious place to play basketball, because it is.

I played football in the dome in 1989 and 1990 so it has been about 20 years since I played FB in there. I played basketball in the dome in 1996 and 97 and even watched a FB game or two in there at that time.

MJA played football in the dome in the mid 90's, that would be less than 20 years ago.

The dome sucked for FB at that time as well. I haven't been in there for 10 years and I understand some upgrades have been made.

The point being, USD fans shouldn't be taking shots at our facilities. I know you understand that I just wanted to clarify MJA's time line.

I was just taking a rough guess. Most of my memory is 1998 and up, and it was not a good facility at that time. But with the recent upgrades to the locker rooms, scoreboards, painting of the seats, new sound system, new lighting, and all the other upgrades make it a pretty good place to watch some football. The turf is still the same, however I do not remember a time that the teams shared sidelines, so that must have changed awhile ago.

I agree that USD fan's shouldn't take shots at SDSU facilities, least of all Frost, but for someone that hasn't been in the "Dump" in 15 years to take shots at it is pretty weak, but not unexpected.

I'm probably one of the only, if not only, poster on this board that has been to football and basketball games in the Dome and CAS/Frost this year.

I find the needless use of this word to be denigrating and offensive to real Booyahs. Seriously - How does one Booyah to celebrate a victory over a team I've never heard of? At least I've heard of the Loyola University at New Orleans. This is not even a Hooah. It's more of a Huh.

You might be one of only a few to do that for sure. Keep this in mind though, when CF ragged on CAS, he lost his mind with that one. An outdoor, 16,000 person capacity stadium, with a soon to be had large facility in one endzone with a very nice scoreboard, and beautiful natural grass (yes natural grass people, screw the fieldturf stuff), and a great tailgating area vs. an indoor, 10,000? seat facility with the nastiest turf one could find. Not to mention, its indoor. Oh and did I mention, its indoor. Dude, the DakotaDump is not a nice facility for DI athletics. Plus its indoor football. That's like playing baseball indoors, which is also disgusting.

                      UTH:

Please refrain from using the phrase "Hooah" ever again! It gives me nightmares and makes me think I am getting up at 4AM to go running in formation. Yikes. As I can gather, you have experienced the same type of torture.

I admit that just the a vague sound resembling that word annoys me, and I should have known better. I apologize for any traumatic event this reminder may have caused. For the record, there is one thing more annoying than that word (i'm sure you'll agree) - it's the sound of several hundred people counting to ten at 4AM.

Where I'm from, booyah is an artillery term - specifically reserved for mad mortarmen.

I hear that. You guys have the monopoly on booyah. Combat engineers have fire in the hole, followed by "damn that was a big one!" Then follows the shrapnel raining down and ducking for cover into the APC because some genius said, "Hell, we are plenty far enough away" even though its only about 250 yards down the road from about 20 pounds of C4 and 10 155 rounds piled on top of each other. Gotta love that action. That's about as smart as ragging on CAS when you play in the Dump.

Played my last ever game at the Dump against Morningside because the game was snowed out in Sioux City and had to be moved to the Dump. That was in 1998. So, guilty as charged on how long it has been since I was there. I've also played basketball and watched basketball games there. I will stand by my opinion on the Dump. Once a dump, always a dump. That was more my point than anything.

For what it's worth, I stood on the field at the UNI game this year and the turf was not much better. Could that be because my natural disdain for artificial turf, especially the "glorified carpet" variety? Perhaps. Call it a character flaw. I'm fine with that.

90% of the time the field at CAS is in perfect playing condition. The rain soaked game during "the game that shall not be mentioned" and the frozen tundra games toward the end of some seasons are the only times when the field suffers.

KUJ, you forgot to add "If you see me running, you better be following" to the Combat Engineers chants. he, he! Oh how nice it would be to wrap about twenty miles of det cord around that grain bin to see how far it would blow its roof.
