If you want a nice gimmick show some highlights of USD on your big screen so the fans would have a reason to come to the stadium and see some good football. At least for a few minutes.
No thank you. After sitting through the Bed pan game Augie usd I fail to see any superiority at USD. I think our offense would find a way to wear you defense to frazzle. And Amos Allen, would not get his holes like he does against D2 opponents. Could we make Noah Shepard throw interceptions? I think we could. You have never seen Danny Batten play so shut your pie hole.

Re: Where are the Fans, for Crying Out Loud?

I'm just going to toss out that pheasant opener had little to do with the lack of turn out Saturday. As someone else mentioned in a different thread, there are not 5,000 pheasant hunting fans that didn't show up. It's the post-Hobo Day fair-weather fans who didn't show up. A few pheasant hunting no-shows, but I'd venture to guess 90% were just not interested in showing up for a game.
I updated my signature for the first time in six years.

Um, where were all the mangy coyote fans in Sioux Falls Saturday? It was the big in-state rivalry game and drew 1,000 fewer than our game (and 2,000 fewer than we had a couple of years ago at HWF against Davis). And fewer than half the 5,500 reported at Howard Wood Saturday were wearing red. Just goes to show what happens when you get away from home and can't use your favorite gimmick: Heavily padding attendance figures. As was noted above, shut your pie hole.

Now would be a good time to share this: I heard from a friend that on the eve of their totally awesome Dakota Day game, USD was sending out emails to area service clubs giving away FREE tickets so their DakotaDump would be filled up for the game.

Shenanigans like that might help explain why USD's ticket revenue was less than half of ours last year, despite their total awesomeness and our wandering in transition-land schedules. And now they're headed for transition-land. Free tickets for everyone.
            Holy nutmeg!

              I can confirm:

Got an e-mail from the SF Downtown Lions club, which I am a member. Free tickets to this game and as many as I wanted.
I hit the delete button as soon as I read it of course. Actually I should have posted it here and on that joke of a USDfans site.
Also heard there was a member of the Yankton Rotary Club that stood up and asked Neilsen where the 300 free ticket to the D-Days game were that he promised after he gave a talk at one of their meetings?? I wonder if he was planning on getting any donations out of them...I think he got his answer from that guy!!
JackMD maybe able to back me up on this.

Promises and no delievery could force Nielsen down the Higgins trail of resignation in order to pursue other opportunities. Those who have been following USD the past decade know what I mean by that.

Living in Yankton, there has never been a week of a home game in Vermillion that there weren't several tickets available at service clubs, Quarterback Club or at many businesses. If I wanted to go, I could have gone for years and never paid for a ticket. When schools have to start giving their attendance based on tickets sold rather than tickets distributed, I think you will see the attendance drop dramatically. Heck, SDSU could give away additonal 2500 tickets for every game and add that to the total. As long as I have gone to SDSU games they have used the turnstiles which gives a fairly accurate attendance figure. When I have gone to games at the DakotaDump, you just go by the ticket takers.

Oh and is that so. Check out this stat from the McNeese game. Sounds like alot of holes were made that night either that or Amos is a heck of a runningback. That was not on USD's fast turf of in USD's building either. That was on good old grass on the road against a very good D1 FCS opponent that plays some pretty good defense at the D1 FCS level. USD's offense translates to the D1 level it's their defense that doesn't. Heck they don't do well at the D2 level.

And you forgot the most important stat my USD friend/homer. That is, at the at the end of the night USD scored 7 points and McNeese St. scored 31.
Your D-1 level offense won't win any games with an average of 3 1/2 points in two FCS games.

That argument is irrelevant to the argument at hand. It was about Amos Allen and USD having holes to run through at the D1 level. I proved the point that USD had plenty of holes to run through. It's obvious that USD lost the game just as SDSU would have as well.

You tend to argue fairly well on a lot of your posts CoyoteFan, but then you always seem to throw that one line in there that shows your true lack of knowledge and wishing certain things are true that just are not.

This from someone who considers SDSU fans pompous and arrogant. Enough said.

Clearly the only truly relevant point is that it was a road game and therefore does not count, except when you're making some ridiculous "what if" argument on a former rival's smack board.

I'll make your next point for you: Had USD played McNeese at home, they would have won by 40 bajillion touchdowns, all of them scored by 24-year-old running back, Amos "I won't discuss my past" Allen.
