Miracles do happen - SDSU beat CU in vb. I doubt many people saw it and I doubt many care but it is still a win against a quality opponent.
618 fans attended the Women's Volleyball game at Frost Arena last night. I wonder how that compares to say UNO Men's basketball . . . why that is 418 more fans then UNO had at its home opener in '05-'06 (Missouri Valley College vs. UNO -Attendance 200). It is a whopping 468 more fans then you had at Sapp for the York College game (York vs. UNO - attendanced 150), and you guys want to go D-I. ;D ;D ;D ;D

The good news is that you are moving into a crummy conference with a lot of teams you will be able to beat in men's bb.
Why don't you go play with your good buddies over on the uno board? Oops. I forgot. They think your posts are as worthless as we do. Sorry about that.

Let's see how many fans come and support your 0-3 football team. Probably not much excitement after they lost to that intramural team. We had more fans at our first football game than you did and that was before you guys knew that you guys suck as bad as you do.

how is this mav power jackass? Jeff was a crucial part of us making to the playoffs in the first place yeah the fumble sucked but we still had a chance to win the game after that happened. Football losses cannot be blamed on one player. What a jackass. Can't wait for the reunion!!!
Apparently mavpowder is well known by the uno(dII) class of 1996. There seems to be some question about his parentage?

I see your university is having a fireworks display to improve its football attendance. I bet more people show up to watch the fireworks than to watch the football team.
I can see the citizens of Omaha stating, "I went to a fireworks show last night and a football game broke out. Darndest thing I ever saw."
I did not think they allowed fireworks in Omaha, with the stench coming from the stockyards, it could light the whole town on fire. Maybe this is how they get rid of the smell. You know how your wife lights candles in the bathroom to burn away the odor you deposited Mav, well the city does the same thing every so often. By having a fire work show, it helps burn off some of the stockyard odor and that campus you call UNO.
NOr Cal, I have to admit your post is rather humorous. I doubt the fireworks will bring many to the game with huskers PPV game on at the same time but maybe I will be surprised.
By the way I suspect people know this but the stockyards left omaha in 1999 and went closer to where the cows are raised - thankfully.
I too noticed that I am about as popular on the mav board as I am here. Kind of like when your boss says 20 nice things about an employee and one negative thing to work on. Many people just remember the one thing.

I know I won't soon forget someone on your own board calling you a jackass. [/quote]
That was me that called him a jackass. I think it was Mavpower that keyed the Cadillac that I used to own outside the Country Club that I used to belong to.

I've been called jackass by my own father, my wife and several people on this board. At first I was mildly offended, then I realized I was being a jackass. I would like to grant the Mav boys the same degree of insight. Some of us are just jackasses sometimes.

89,
Looks like we got almost three times as many fans at our volleyball game than you did and you are bragging. First our football team outdraws you and now volleyball. You might not want to talk about fan support anymore. It is making you guys look bad. :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
UNO made up for five years of frustration in its series with UNK, riding an early flurry to a convincing victory in a matchup of nationally ranked teams.
The Lopers' Shannon Clausen has her spike rejected as UNO's Nicole McLeod, No. 7, and Carlie Christensen are up high on the block. The Mavs defeated the Lopers Thursday three games to one.
The 17th-ranked Mavericks cruised to a 30-19, 30-14, 25-30, 30-26 win before 1,527 Thursday night at Sapp Fieldhouse, beating the defending Division II national runner-up for the first time since 2000.
"It feels good to beat Kearney," University of Nebraska at Omaha coach Rose Shires said. "But I would have liked to stay in the commanding lead we had in games one and two."
The University of Nebraska at Kearney, ranked 22nd, struggled mightily against UNO's service and net play in the early stages, suffering some of the most lopsided game losses coach Rick Squiers can remember.
"We were basically hapless in games one and two," he said. "It was embarrassing and not what we've become accustomed to in Loper volleyball. From coaching staff to players, we didn't do something right."
UNO twice pushed the Lopers to five games during their five-match losing streak but had never beaten them worse than 30-25.
UNK's Steph Hoemann returns a serve.
"After watching game films, I really thought there were some things that we could do," UNO right-side hitter Nicole McLeod said. "But I didn't think it would be anything like that."
The Lopers got back into the match in game three as freshman Erica Burson of Omaha Gross, playing for the first time since Aug. 26 because of an ankle injury, began making an impact.
"You get to game three and you just use it as an opportunity for her to work back and generate some rhythm heading into Saturday," Squiers said. "And we saw some good things from her."
UNO trailed early in game four before rallying and playing with the lead.
"Our coaches told us to be ready for another team to come out after game two," McLeod said of UNK.
Nicole McLeod, No. 7, along with her teammates, cheer on the Mavs.
McLeod, Carlie Christensen and Christina Reicks each had 11 kills for the Mavs (11-4), and Kelli Goeser added 10.
Kelli Bunger had 10 kills and Burson added nine while playing just the final three games for the Lopers (12-4). UNK had hitting percentages under .000 in two of the four games and hit just .054 for the match.
In game four, UNO freshman Sara Kampschnieder, playing for just the third time all season because of a herniated disc in her back, entered the match and had two kills, two block assists and a dig.
"We were counting on her vying for a starting position," Shires said. "This was really her first attempt at playing. Sometimes you change things up, move people around a little bit, and there's a whole different look and feel. You just need somebody to step up and be aggressive."
Reicks, a senior who ranks second on the team in kills and digs, was out the rest of the match.
"Sometimes you get a hitter up against a blocker and they struggle in that situation," Shires said. "It's nice to have a substitute, which we haven't always had this year. Christina is my starting outside hitter, and I have a lot of faith and confidence in her, but that's what needed to happen tonight."
Perhaps UNO should join the conference that UNK is in because the Loper fans travel really well, especially to Omaha. After all, both examples of UNO sports this fall outdrawing SDSU athletics (as pointed our by our friends to the south of Verminville) involve UNK.
