Do you have any proof this is the truth...likely not.
I'm talking about how you know for certain coaches from Iowa won't travel further to come to ND. You say "Frankly, that is the truth..." but you give no basis for your opinion which doesn't carry much weight. If you going to continue to post like you are Mr. Know It All then give some supporting evidence in your posts.
What about the basketballer from Bowbells who played at Iowa several years ago? Bowbells is about as far from Iowa City as you can get in ND. And this is the truth, they recruited and signed him.
You would think that if SD and ND was equal in talent then ND would have approximately the same number of kids playing D-1.
The only way to know for sure would be to have a North South Dak all state game for the high school seniors.
I would enjoy that much more than the current MonDak game in which Montana almost always wins do to them having 400k more people than ND has.
Also, the reason that schools like Drake, Iowa, UNI, and Iowa State have more SD kids than ND kids is that it's easier for them to hop across the river than to drive all the way up to ND.
Do you remember why the other thread was locked. You sound like one.
If you're talking about Eslinger, he went to the U camp. Otherwise, they would've never recruited him.
Bollinger probably did the same though I can't confirm that.
What's this line of posts remind me of? hmmm? I know. Arguing with my 3 year old about bed time. Void of any logic and akin to beating one's head against the wall. I may actually employ that line of argument into my next court appearance because from what I have experienced it's an unbeatable form of argument. Sure, employing that form of arguing would make most people think I was extremely dense and question my ability as a lawyer, and I'd be stooping to the level of a 3 year old, but I'd always believe I won every argument. Why? Because I said so? Give me a logical response disproving my point? No problem; here's a completely illogical response from me to show you logic has no place in this argument. In other words, paint it in neon, spell it out in bold letters...it doesn't matter. No matter what you say, I'm right and you lose. Brilliant!

OK, so your excuse is that nobody wants to travel all the way to ND to recruit kids?
I looked at Nebraska's roster and they have a kid from Anchorage, Alaska. So your saying that ND is more isolated than Alaska? Must be if you use your logic.
Nebraska also has a kid from Germany. Germany? Is ND so far from Nebraska that they would rather go to Germany and recruit a kid? I'm guessing not. I'm sure that Nebraska would like nothing more than to make a short trip to ND and get a recruit, than go to Germany or Alaska. The fact is, ND does not have a recruit worth traveling to ND to go and see.

The truth is that neither state has many d1AA players at all. According to some coaches there were only two true big d1AA type recruits to come out of south dakota this year. The two were Jake Steffan (SDSU) and Colter Boyer (NDSU) a majority of the other kids on SDSU's roster are either walk ons or kids receiving very little money. Don't let the 28 players on states roster thing fool you. If you look at either NDSU or SDSU's signings or rosters you will find that nearly all of their top recruits are from more populated states, if not all.

I would have to disagree with this post. SDSU finished the year in the Top 25 and had 8 of our 22 starters from South Dakota. If you check the 2 deep, 18 kids listed are from South Dakota. Of the remaining 10, I believe 6 were red shirted.
I believe SD has more D-I players than many think. Most however, are not able to come into a program and contribute right away. Many of them need time to develop a bit and most don't get a chance to start till their Junior or even Senior years. So maybe this thread is about recruiting philosophy instead of actual talent. SDSU may be more willing to take a native kid on potential development and NDSU may be looking for recruits to make a more immediate impact. I don't know, just a thought.

For the most part I agree with you, there were only 2 kids that were DIAA type in ND this year (bad year for talent) and NDSU got both.
North Dakota is very cold. This makes it difficult for football players to develop. I have heard on good authority that instead of helmets, they wear earmuffs after October 1st to fight off the deadly frostbite. Buffalo hide mittens are the only way to combat the bitter cold, so catching or throwing the ball is also quite difficult.
North Dakota is also very flat. This means their running backs never learn to run downhill. In many of the football games I have seen on TV, the color guys always talk about how backs "run downhill." This must be very important, and is obviously lacking in ND football players.
North Dakota is also out of the way from a trip to anywhere except Canada. One has to want to go to North Dakota to get to North Dakota. This makes it extremely difficult to be "discovered" by coaches passing through town on a Friday night, stopping for a burger, and catching a small town football game.
Also, according to Wikipedia, the state beverage of North Dakota is milk, while South Dakota's state drink is sugarfree Red Bull. Now which of those will get you jacked up for a football game? ;D
