  • Re: Stu Strikes Again!

Stu is just being Meierkort's lap dog. Remember when he was on Stu's web show and Meierkort told Stu it was "his job" to get the rivalry re-started.

    Good boy Stu

I do agree with fluffy, I mean Stu, on one point. USD is not ready to compete with NDSU and will need our help to do so. That is why they are crying so loudly to get a game with us. Seems like they are always looking for our help, please show us the way to D-I, please give our lives meaning by playing us again. You know what I mean. Now it’s please help us recruit.

Stu and the Yotes what a great combo. Ha ha ha ha ha!

Maybe I'm missing your point but since SDSU has beat NDSU 3 of the last four years (4 of 5 in a couple months) youwould think they would want to play the Bison before SDSU.

Right, I agree with fluffy that USD isn't ready for NDSU and agree with you too. Because they are not ready for NDSU they certainly are not ready for us. This is the hard part so stay with me, I don't agree with fluffy that SDSU needs the rivalry to help us recruit. After all we have beaten NDSU two times in a row and they have not won at CAS since 1999.

I do agree with fluffy that if we started the rivalry up that would help legitimize USD and would help them recruiting wise and help them catch up to NDSU sooner then if they try and do it for themselves. I can see why they desperately want to play us for this and other reasons that I have stated.

I think fluffy is trying to bait us into putting pressure on our school's leaders to play because that is what Ed wants him to do. So you keep barking Stu.

I also wonder why USD is always looking for us to help them. If they need so much help with the D-I move maybe they should have joined the NSIC with Augie.

          Maybe that makes things clearer.

One day a few weeks back I googled Stu Whitney just to see what came up. The enviromentlist youtube clip came up since there is a Canadian enviromentalist who just happens to be named Stu Whitney. There were a number of hits for the Argus Stu and they were interesting reading. The writings read seem to be flavored with muck raking in general so todays blog, is not at all different than some of his hits found in the google.

His book about George Perles former head coach at Michigan State came up several times, Stu got a reputation for exposing bad things at Michigan State during this era that included a RoseBowl trip and of course steriod usage. I got George Perles book earmarked but have not found time to return and read.

Since Stu was successful in hounding MSU and George Perles, Stu has this self preception of being Upton Sinclair, which in my opinion cheapens the reputation of Sinclair, who is a well known author and also known as a socialist. Sinclair's writings did help influence reform on working conditions in the 1920's and later. Does Stu work towards reform? He would like us to believe that he is doing this as a favor to his readers. In my opinion, Stu raises questions, red flags, but has few solutions if any. Today's blog hardly was a solution namely suggesting one SDSU-USD game would solve our problems and we would not lose these SF recruits to NDSU. Disconnect reasoning? Yep. So there is no need to let this guy rent space in our minds. He is not going to help SDSU, and his criticism might just galvanize us into be bigger and better financial supports of athletics at SDSU. My advice, read Stu's stuff but recognize what it is he is doing.

Next lesson for the newspaper industry, or maybe just the sports editor of the Argus Leader, don't go out of your way to anger the fan base of the largest school in the state. Especially when that fan base is also the most passionate about their team or you will get left behind.

                      Doc,

What is it that you dislike the Coyotes so much? Is it because they are your natural rival, and one is supposed to hate them? Or is it because someone from there once did something to you so now you hate the Coyotes? Just what is it?

In Iowa, the Cyclones and the Hawks are rivals like the Jacks and Yotes. You find two sorts of fans. One is the fan that cheers for one of those two every weekend, but also cheers for the other (other than when they play against each other) on every game but one. Then there are those that are fans of one, so they just hate the other because somehow that i show it is supposed to be.

If it is because you hate the Coyotes so much due to rivalry, then I have a hard time understanding why you don't ever want to play us in anything....ever. If the roles were switched, and USD was in the 5th year of D-I, and SDSU was in their 2nd, I would want to play them and supposedly kick the crap out of them to embarrass them. Name the sport, you have the major advantage. But your school is dodging USD for whatever reason ( I know Stig says we'll play USD when it is in our best interest ). If you really could kick the crap out of USD in any major sport, why aren't you playing?

I'll tell you why. Because deep down Stig knows that USD is right where SDSU is athletically, or in worst case, close. And he can't risk USD laying a loss on the Jacks. Same goes for mens basketball. I know the banter will start now, but think about it, is there really another reason?

I don't get this "hatred" of USD. Unless something so bizarre happened to you that made a lasting impression. You certainly can't hate the people of USD.....hell someday, maybe one will come upon an accident and save your life or one of your family members life. I just don't get this.

Truthfully, the open date next year should be filled with each other. Everyone in here knows it.

                        LJ,

You need to be clear on one issue that apparently you are fogged over on. USD isn't in the slightest bit interested in recieving help from our good neighbors to the north. Not one bit.

There isn't any part of our business model that mirrors or replicates SDSU's. Not one. Not that you haven't had some successes, as you have, but other than your womens basketball team doing exceptionally well last year, what about your program would USD want to duplicate?

You have major budget issues. You are having problems selling tickets to the extent your administration wants. Quite frankly you are having problems getting positive press out of the states leading newspaper. Why would USD want to duplicate that? The answer is in two words: They don't.

Don't come smacking about how superior you are in a sport, because until you play, it is just smack. Want to brag? Play USD. Not for USD's best interest, but to show the WHOLE WORLD just how good you are. As I said in my post to jackmd, quite frankly I am not sure you beat USD in football or mens basketball. I am not sure you don't, but I can build a case statistically where USD shoves the ball down your throat in football. Don't just make statements that sound cool in bashing USD, but rather quantify them. And if you can do that, then qualify them. Simple to do if truth is on your side.

Other than that..........the only way to settle a score is to play. Period. And I know you believe that because of how quickly you cling to the last 4 years performances against NDSU. You beat them, good for you. But don't cling to the head to head argument when it doesn't fit for your smack against USD.

                          Whoa, YF. Chill Pill

                          1. You might want to win a few counters in D-1 before you start talking about shoving it down anybody's throat, much less a top-tier program in a pretty good 1-AA conference.
                          2. Did the Yotes get some new recruits the last three weeks?
Because here's what you said on July 29 about the rivalry: "USD is a winnable game for you, but also loseable. This isn't smack talking, but I am saying that if USD's defense improves somewhat this year, it would be a ball game."
                          3. If you say the U "isn't the slightest bit interested in help from our good neighbors to the north" why have you been on this board for months arguing for rivarly resumption?

The Jacks finished 3rd in the MVFC last year, one of the toughest conferences in the nation, and are expected to finish there this year again while the Yotes have beat Southern Utah last year. You actually need to do something before claiming you could hang with us.
