Re: The Official USD to D-I Smack Thread
Has anyone heard if Abbott got his new basketball arena for Christmas this year??
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I'm sure it was under the tree right next to the future conference schedules from the Mid-Con AND the Big Sky that had USD and the UND Fighting Ralphs included..............

Re: The Official USD to D-I Smack Thread
Seems to me that Coyote Fan is about to have a big helping of crow. As for us following anyone, we did follow something... we followed our instincts... we followed our guts. All in all, it's been a pretty successful run.
The only thing the University of Student Drunks has followed is the line for the kegstand at the Char-Bar!

As I said on another post in response to your "guinea pig" comment. This means the bar has been set for you and USD better darn well be more successful making the transition to D-I. You've had someone in front of you to learn from and therefore this should be much easier for you. Good luck...we'll all be watching.

Dog breath:
When are you going to understand.
You need to be kiss bottom when you come around here. Your flea eaten yotes dont go anywhere without the say so from the Brookings. Your only hope is that the SUs invite your mangey friends into the MidCon. If they dont, where you going to go? Maybe the Big12? Big10? Or you think the Big Sky? Get real. In football, your only chance depends on the SU's. Either we INVITE you into the Great West or WE decide to move on to the Gateway. Either way, its completely out of the U's control. You are a completely helpless without us. Beg

yote_fan, bring it back up a notch and you might come some reasonable discourse. We are the leader, you are the follower, accept that role, be submissive and wait your turn.

I asked "Who Would You Like" to see the Coyotes play in D1, big difference. I never said anything about playing any of these schools within a particular timeframe other than suggesting for USD to try to be the first area team to play the Huskers. Please at least be accurate in what you write that I am writing. Is asking other Coyotes fans who they would like to see USD play really all that horrible of a question?
For some of you to claim that USD is no longer a rival or the NDSU is a much bigger rival you sure do care about USD ALOT. It is proven in the number of posts that are made in response to what USD does or in response to what poster from USD are saying. Most of you have practically gone insane since USD made their announcement last week and were getting very concerned in the weeks leading up to the announcement. You can HATE on USD all you want but not regarding them as a rival is a bit of a stretch. They might not be this very minute but in the depths of South Dakotans souls SDSU and USD is still a bigger rivalry than NDSU and SDSU. That includes most Jacks fans. They will tell you to your face that USD isn't a rival but their actions will not back that up. I will completely agree that NDSU is your biggest rival as soon as you sell out Frost Arena for a game against them.

Re: The Official USD to D-I Smack Thread
Wow does that guy really thinks they are going to play USC or Texas in football anytime soon? Give me a break. USC and Texas are playing for a national title every year, no way they are going to schedule a team transitioning from D-II. The same thing could be said about them playing UNC or Duke, not gonna happen in this lifetime buddy.

Re: The Official USD to D-I Smack Thread
Nielson was at Wake and he did say some things about keeping his connections to the ACC open. Whether he is blowing hot air or being honest is tough to say. I could see USD playing at Wake or another ACC school. Its no different than playing Minnesota, Wisconsin, Baylor, Marquette, etc... when you think about it.
As for talk about playing a road game against an SEC team in FB, thats just insanity!! The biggest reason the Gophers and Iowa St. are willing to play the SU's is the crowds we can draw while providing a "lower level" of competition than a DIA program and still counting towards a bowl bid. Problem being, NDSU kind of screwed up their plan. USD playing an SEC school in FB, man that is crazy!!!
Nebraska is probably a possibility 5 plus years down the road. Gotta pay for the scholarships first. Hannah (I think he is a scholarship guy at the U) was very critical of DIAA teams playing DI teams when USD was a "DII member for life" so he'll be sticking his stinky foot in his mouth if USD "sacrifices" its athletes for a paycheck.
USD playing an SEC school in FB, crazy!!

Re: The Official USD to D-I Smack Thread
Man some people at USD are just clueless. Read this post on the USD board
http://coyotesports.proboards100.com...ead=1165465398
I know nobody posts on their board and maybe he is just driving himself crazy talking to himself, but this guy has no clue what he is talking about.
He really thinks USD is going to play Nebraska in football? Not for a long time, if ever.
Well if you want a good laugh then click on the link. He should just :-X
Go State!!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

Re: The Official USD to D-I Smack Thread
I posted this link on the non-smack thread re: USD(d-1?)'s move up, but Kimmes really laid down some zingers on Coyote County.
http://media.www.sdsucollegian.com/m...epublisher.com
Here are a few of the smack highlights:
I say SDSU should make minimal, if any, attempt to restore this once-cherished rivalry.I admit I am petty enough to not want to help them out. When SDSU made the decision to make the move to D-I, USD did nothing to help. In fact, they made a point to hold a press conference announcing they were not moving. USD supporters criticized the Jacks' decision to make the move. Now, they are making the move after SDSU and NDSU have found success.Bottom line - we do not owe them anything as formal rivals by assisting them in any way. By us making the move first, we have already assisted them. We succeeded on our own. Let's see the Coyotes succeed with an easier path. I wish them luck in their transition. They'll need it.
