Yeah, I thought I covered that somewhat in my first comment with the "given Stu's article" proviso.

I guess you could say it's an instance of "giving them enough rope". I admit it. I was trolling a bit.

I think the proper protocol is to remove your SDSU or USD garb and lay it over the puddles in the streets so that NDSU fans don't get their shoes wet.

I heard that Cabela's originally wanted to be in Brooking but some of the city big wigs didn't want them here. So I guess you could blame them because if Cabela's was in Brookings, a lot of SDSU/Brookings people wouldn't buy much at Scheels.

All "smack" aside, let's just appreciate the upcoming weekend for what it's really about, BASKETBALL!
That is just how some people feel about the rivalry with NDSU.

I think they knew that if they brought them to Brookings, they would only have about 10 customers that day and some people would boycott that place for a month so you could just as well close the store.

That was their attempt to get more NDSU fans to come to Sioux Falls for the Summit League basketball tournament. People try to entice fans in many different ways and this was just one of theirs.

The chances of that happening went out the window when the Bison women didn't make the tournament.

              Thoughts:

              - It seems like a dumb thing to get upset about, but whatever. If people don't want it to happen, it's their right to voice their opinion.

              - A couple people mentioned USD fans not caring or potentially caring. Which USD fans are we talking about? The ones that only show up if there are free tickets or if SDSU is playing? Those fans?

NDSU is not our rival so why would we care?

Get over it. USD fans did not get upset about it because they have rational thoughts. It's not a big deal. If you dislike the trophies coming to SF do not go or beat them so they do not win more championships. Complaining about this makes you sound like a kid that just got beat on the playground so you are taking your ball and going home.

What, threatening to boycott a place for showcasing another teams success...that isn't classy? Who knew!

NDSU reminds me of a typical rom-com lead character... immensely successful, uber-talented... yet can't find anyone to love them.

Oh, lighten up. Have some fun. That's what sports is about, at least for fans. Especially on a smack thread.

Would SDSU be the friendzoned nerd?

The friend-zone nerd usually gets laid at the end as part of the subplot so...

                            National Championship here we come!

Sadly, movies are only based on true stories.

                                I don't think it'll be that glorious.

Probably more likely that one of NDSU's trophies will fall out of the car along I-29 by Brookings on the way back to Fargo from Scheels and we will find it. We can then claim it as our own.
