        We can always hope that Sumner doesn't throw Zenner Mertens.

        An interesting bit of information is that the definition of Mertens is very much disputed. Some scholars argue it is a ball thrown at the receiver's feet, while others firmly believe it is a ball thrown to the opposing team. Some have argued that it is a pass whose flight resembles that of a wounded Mallard. North Dakota State researchers flatly deny the existence of Mertens, while many South Dakota residents claim to have personally seen Mertens multiple times. The real truth may never be known.
