    Well played sir. A simple logo that is undeniably honest, forthright and accurate. The U should adopt it forthwith.

    This might need a totally seperate smack thread because there are so many things to say. For starters, USD has announced they are designing a new logo and scrapping the U.

    http://www.volanteonline.com/news/ne...sity-1.2525973

    I thought for a service project we should help them come up with their new logo.

    That is a quote from Jeffrey Baylor the VP of Marketing at USD

    "When you see a ‘U.', it doesn't' say ‘University of South Dakota,'" Baylor said. "That's what really led to us seriously considering a change."

    Baylor said the new logo should speak to USD's tradition and position among the South Dakota Board of Regental institutions.

    In order to fit their description of their tradition and position I created this:

    boy thread drift coming on. When the 7th Cavalry was marching to Fort Lincoln they were caught and nearly perished in a blizzard near Yankton. If not for the citizens of Yankton taking them in, Little Big Horn may not have happened.

    When George A. Custer and the 7th Calvary marched away from Ft. Abraham Lincoln near Mandan, ND, in 1876, little did anyone know Custer's ghost would later return to North Dakota to advise the Legislature on retention of the "Fighting Sioux" nickname for the University of North Dakota. History trivia note: Who was Custer's band leader?* Custer sent the band back to camp and therefore it was spared from being in the battle.

    * Adam Vinatieri's great-great grandfather, Felix Vinatieri.

    There are lots of great Bison fans...so, while acknowledging there are many exceptions, I think there are some Bison fans who thrive on rumors -- the crazier, the better. And, when the rumor peters out and everyone with an ounce of grey matter in their head recognizes the rumor had no substance, those same fans happily start another one! Ya gotta admire their perserverance (and apparent lack of gainful employment).
