At least the Jacks legitimately made it into the playoffs. The Bizon might back into an expanded field - over on BV they are hoping they can buy their way in by making a huge bid to host.

The Bison may have already bought their way into the playoffs with a home game victory (35-9) against Morgan State, which lost to Maryland 63-2 and Bethume-Cookman 69-32, and finished the season 4-7. The equivalent SDSU game was on the road to Delaware, one of the top teams in the country. ... NDSU and SDSU both finished 4-4 in the conference. NDSU beat USD, and SDSU beat UND, which is a wash.The Bison, to their credit, beat Kansas, while the Jacks lost to a much tougher Nebraska team. So it goes.

Congrats to the Bison on making the playoffs. I expect NDSU will beat RM and will give MSU a whale of a game in the 2nd round with a good chance to win.

By no means am I arguing that the Jacks belong in the playoffs. SDSU finished at least two wins short of that being a realistic possibility. The point is that a mediocre Bison team, with the help of good scheduling, is a playoff team. Cripes, they're even hosting a first-round game against a relatively weak opponent. Fair? No. But money and facilities talk. The Jacks lack both. They get by mostly on hard work and toughness.

We should have taken care of business in Terre Haute and in Fargo ND, and then we might have been heading to Robert Morris for a playoff game. That did not happen so congrads to the Bison. They earned their way their. Notice how many 7-4 teams are in the playoffs. I would not say they were mediocare, but good enough to make the playoffs.

This might be the official line of the selection committee, but I think you have to be pretty naive to think that the bids play no role in the selection/matchup process.
