  • Orne in the Mix at Iowa

    http://gazetteonline.com/blogs/on-io...offensive-line

Just saw this linked from Adam Rittenberg's blog on ESPN. Seems like Woody Orne is in the mix for the Hawkeyes this coming season.

I know it doesn't do any good to look backward, but it sure would be nice to have Woody around considering the question marks entering the season for us on offensive line (depth and experience). I hope he does well though in Iowa City. Time will tell for us and for him.

I don't think anybody wanted Woody to leave but it was definitely in his best interest. No way Stig was going to put SDSU ahead of his individual needs.

Can you go into that a little more?

From what I remember, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but Orne had some kind of family issue back in Iowa so he wanted to transfer to be closer to home.

Correct. I don't think we need to know any more than that. It wasn't a conflict between player and program it was an issue with the student athlete. I've visited with other players families and they all reported that Woody had a spot on our team if he wanted it.
