  • FCS Title Game Now in Texas

I think most everyone who frequents the site was aware of the plan to change venues. Most were probably also aware that a suburb of Dallas, TX was chosen. Maybe most also knew there will be 20 teams in the playoffs up from 16 and that the championship game will now be played on January 7th. Here is a link to an article for those who weren't aware. 20 teams in the playoffs next year playing to make it to Texas in January.

Southland Conference will host for at least the next 3 years.

Anyone want me to make them a hotel reservation - I'm on it as we speak. Think BIG Jacks fans! There is NO reason we can't expect to be there EVERY year with pride and humility. Spring ball is right around the corner - Go Jackrabbits!!!!

Not trying to get off topic, I think this year is a HUGE year for Jackrabbit football. Coming of our most successful season ever into one brutal schedule. This is the first year 20 teams are in the playoffs and we are going to need to play even better than last year to even make the field. Its easy to go from on top of the conference and in the playoffs to obscurity, just ask our neighbors to the north.

More concerning for me, the educated fan realized the difficulty of the upcoming schedule with road games at powerhouses like SIU, UNI, and NDSU (yes the earned that rep). They realize that Delaware is a very tough place to win traditionally. Educated fans know that Youngstown St, Illinois St, and WIU are all going to be much improved and that Missouri State is always decent.

I like to think we have established ourselves well enough to say we had a good season even if it doesn't end in the playoffs. I'm not saying we won't be in the playoffs or in Texas or that we shouldn't expect it but I am saying the season can still be a good one even if we aren't.

The MVC will be up from an overall poor year and it will be tougher to get the record needed. We have some good rep going into this year, but start flat and it wouldn't be enough to hold us in the tourney like more storied teams.

A strong showing this year however would put us well on the way to that respected position and keep the momentum going. I will continue to be content with another step in the right direction for the program.

I Respect NDSU football, and they deserve the Rep they get.
I also however enjoy beating them as much as anyone (probably for the same reason).
