  • USF's new head coach.

Linebacker coach from UNLV taking the head job at USF. As I inferred in another post, the O-coordinator job carries much more responsibility than an assistant job. DeBoer leaves USF to be OC at DI FCS school and is replaced by an assistant coach at a DI FBS school. Salem leaves a DII school to be an assistant at a DI FBS school. There are positive aspects in both positions but DeBoer is much more likely to springboard from an OC position to a head coaching job at the DI level than Salem is. Salem went to MSU because of his familiarity with that program. DeBoer got his job on the basis of reputation alone.

Both are good jobs to help each coach on their future endeavors. USF might have hired a postion coach but the running backs job at Michigan State has worked out well for others. The man Salem replaced did a nice job with his next gig. http://www.ncaa.com/sports/m-footbl/...011210aaa.html

You are right. I don't have any evidence to back up the statement I made about which one might be a head coach at the DI level first. Excellent opportunity for both men and I wish them the best.
