Montana is having a second-half collapse. Their coaches got totally out-halftime-adjusted. And down two scores, can't figure out why they weren't stopping the clock to preserve time with under 4 minutes to go and three timeouts left. Bad clock management.

Someone on AGS commented that all the big playoff games were won by the team down going into half.

Their stud WR had 178 receiving yards the first half and didn't touch the ball the second. They had five first downs the second half. Their defense couldn't prevent a first down when they needed it. Happens to the best of them.

I kind of wish they would have won, being the team that beat the Jacks. But that vaunted and huge offensive line that some of their fans bragged about on this board was a weak link tonight. They had a nine-point halftime lead and could have really pounded a long drive at the top of the third quarter to put the game away. Instead they kept throwing and Villanova obviously switched coverage schemes. An OL that outweighed Villanova's d-front by about 60 pounds a man should/could have taken control of the game at that point.
Their defense gave up nearly 400 yards rushing.

Villinova had an advantage possibly in that they most likely had our Montana game tape. They seem to have a method for containment of Mariani. I think SDSU would have their hands full with either team.

You know why the Griz can't win the championship is because they actually have to travel. Of course their AD is trying to buy that game too.

Villanova's defense looked weak in the first half, but in the second half, they were great. That #9 was a 5'10", 250 lb. linebacker and really a hard hitter.

Villanova's coach seems like a good guy. He's been there 25 years, so it's easy to be happy for him getting the championship.

I wanted Montana to win. That said, I took comfort watching what happened in the second half - the scene was familiar (blow a lead, not being able to move the ball, etc). I wanted Griz fans to experience our pain. Yes, it was selfish on my part.
