  • College Basketball Budgets

Here is an interesting link. I can't vouch for the data, but it purportedly contains the 2008 basketball budgets for every team in Division I. As I mentioned to folks over on the Coyote board, you don't need a giant arena to have a first-class program. Lots of schools in there with small arenas with budgets 2-3 times the size of the Dakota schools.

What is UMKC spending all of their money on? That is a bad dollar to win ration they have going on. We still have a long way to go to catch some teams that are in the Summit league in terms of budget. I really have to wonder what all of these programs are spending money on? Is this all coaches salary?

Pretty amazing numbers. Duke is in a league of its own when it comes to basketball money. There are a lot of head-scratchers on there. UC-Riverside with a $1.3 million budget? Where do they get their money? I think their arena only seats about 3,000.

And my other observation is that it would be nice to have that MVC money. Their big splash in the tourney a few years ago is going to pay off for several years.
