You think we have problems? How about this:

Secret deal between Prince, Krause stuns K-State

During the past six months, Kansas State University fans have come to accept $1.2 million as the cost of ridding their valued football program of former coach Ron Prince and his mediocre success in three seasons.

Turns out it’s worse than they thought. The new price tag is $4.4 million.

Prince, now an assistant coach at the University of Virginia, is scheduled to receive $3.2 million more in payments from 2015 to 2020 — in addition to the buyout amount from his August 2008 contract extension. It’s all because of what K-State officials say is a “secret agreement” signed last August by Prince and Bob Krause, K-State’s former athletic director.

“Secret,” as in hiding the agreement from anyone at the university, including president Jon Wefald.
Some perspective: SDSU's entire athletic budget is around $10 million.

    There's even a local angle:
Wefald and Krause have worked side by side since 1977, when Wefald was the president at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn., and Krause was vice president of student affairs.
    "I think we'll be OK"

I like this one sentence from the article:

"It is the latest in a litany of questionable financial dealings in the past 17 months, most with Krause as AD."

Yes we are lucky. The Argus is keeping such a good eye on our former AD and I suspect the new one will also be scrutinized especially if he does something that is above and beyond the stuck in the mud thinking of South Dakota and is too progressive for the Sioux Falls sports scene.

I also wonder what kind of Privacy laws relating to personnel files are on the books in Kansas.

I'm sure we'll hear more of this. 3.5mil over 5 years as Prince is booted out the door? Sounds like hush money to me. He set up his own LLC and everything.

And when they hired Prince (hand selected by Bill Snyder) they thought he was going to be the next big deal. They were right, he got a big deal and this is a real big deal.
