I was gobsmacked when UNC scheduled this game in the first place, and would have LOVED to see it utterly blow up in their faces. Still, USD ( I hope) put a righteous scare into the Tar Heels.

Not sure you can take much from this game other than USD did well.

I'd guess the UNC players took the game extremely lightly--at least for a while.

I'm just sorry USD wasn't able to make them pay the full measure for UNC's lack of respect.

Not sure you can take much from this game other than USD did well.

Now seriously, if SDSU had played this team this well you would have been excited. I'm pretty sure UNC didn't take USD into high regards like maybe Tennessee or UCONN, but c'mon, give 'em some credit. USD played them to the end. It just shows that USD could be competitive on the D-I circuit.

Actually, I'd be pretty insulted to get scheduled to play a game between the conference tournament and the NCAA's. It shows that the opponent doesn't take you seriously as an opponent. Until UNC did it, I'd never heard of anybody doing this before. It's fundamentally disrespectful to the opponent (USD in this case), IMHO.

That's why I'm happy that USD made it so close. UNC needed to get a scare at least, and preferably to get beat for their arrogance in scheduling this game in the first place.

We'll see how competitive USD will be next year when you get to play a full D-I schedule. I think your women will be pretty competitive (I've got a fairly high opinion generally of women's basketball in the Upper Midwest vs. the rest of the country).

I think it was thier best shooting from the 3 pt land all year, but , shhhh! ,don't tell UNC that.In the argus, Mick commented at how open the players were for 3'S ,won't be after this game.This game really exposed a lot of weaknesses teams could have exploited in the tournament.They won't let players be that open in the tournament.Might of been a lack of respect , but i'm sure they have respect for the coyotes now!
