    Terry Bowden to coach Northern Alabama

    This just seems a little out of the ordinary for coaching moves, but Terry Bowden, yes Bobby's son and former Auburn head coach, is taking over at DII Northern Alabama.

    North Alabama has a strong tradition in football, and I believe they are looking at a move to FCS. Still, kinda a long fall from coaching at Auburn.

      He hasn't coached at Auburn for 10 years now. He has been a studio analyst since. If I remember correctly there was a lot of animosity surrounding his leaving and a lot of questions about some of the things he did and said which led to him not getting any opportunities to coach again. This might be all he had for options.

        Wow the 32 reader comments are very interesting. UNA has been talking D1 for a long time, and nothing has happened. They were exploring this move when SDSU and NDSU made their move. D2football might have some additonal information. Florence Alabama about the size of Brookings and UNA do a great job of hosting the D2 championship and have done so for many years now.

        This will be an interesting story to watch.
