    Re: Charlie Weis

Officially Tuberville's separation is called a voluntary resignation. I saw (television) Nick Saban commenting on how several very good SEC coaches have resigned recently. I think his comment was meant to say 'too much pressure to produce conference and national champs every year in too many programs...somebody has to lose in every game and when great teams play each other, a great team loses.' That's my translation.

Speaking of Nick Saban, I thought the following post I stumbled across at the end of September was pretty funny -- stumbled on to it again the other day:

    BREAKING NEWS...
    AP-Tuscaloosa
Authorities arrested Alabama head coach Nick Saban in the predawn hours Monday at his home in Tuscaloosa on animal cruelty charges. Saban,
56, was charged with 85 counts of animal cruelty in an alleged attack which occurred
Saturday night in Athens, Georgia. Police said that as many as 92,138 witnesses saw Saban and a large group of violent young men under his control hit, kick, crush and destroy a large pack of mostly-docile bulldogs. One officer
was quoted as saying, "I haven't seen bulldogs treated this badly since the Michael Vick case."

Yeah, sorry, I meant to say since he "resigned". I'm sure that had nothing to do with the fact that several high powered boosters went nuts when bama shut them out. First win in 7 years against Auburn for bama. I think I smells a rat.

Does anybody really care what Nick Saban has to say? I mean the man is a liar. I know what he said, and he was trying and point some things out, but I mean seriously I don't think he can be trusted. Pretty soon he will leave Alabama for some other coaching job that he says he has not interest in.

Take a look at the guy some of the Auburn boosters wanted, Bobby Petrino, talk about a guy who you can trust about as far as you can throw him. Now Tubbs is out, Petrino probably wants in but I'm guessing the Hogs have a pretty big buyout worked into that contract.

Anyways, I don't feel a bit sorry for the golden domes, they are stuck with Weis make the best of it, or don't.

Bobby Petrino has it written in his contract that if he leaves he cannot go to another SEC West school.

I agree with you, the whole thing smells a little fishy that he resigned, I wonder what Auburn paid him to step down?

                Just a cool $5.1 million:

Jacobs said he and the president agreed to pay Tuberville the buyout price of $5.1 million -- even though it was not required since he wasn't fired -- because they felt it was "the right thing to do."

Or he said, "I aint quitting without they buyout in writing, so pay and I retire, or fire me and pay me."

Agreed. The university probably didn't want to look bad AGAIN, after having egg all over its face the last time Tuberville was on the hot seat. Easiest way to do this was to pay out immediately and avoid any more press about their ridiculous coaching searches - like when they were talking to Petrino while Tubervilles still was the coach and everyone found out. Whoever the AD is at Auburn, he isn't very smooth to say the least.
