Some Eagle's supporters want to move up. Here is some info from a preliminary study.

STATESBORO - Are you willing to pay a little more for a football program competing at a higher level?

That's the question Georgia Southern supporters will have to answer soon.

Officials from Rosser International, the company in charge of looking into the Eagles' gridiron future, met with 50-75 curious supporters for an hour at the Nessmith-Lane Building on GSU's campus Saturday morning before the Eagles' matchup with Appalachian State.

Bottom line: An additional $2-3 million would be needed just to pull even with comparable programs that have made similar moves.

This is very interesting. Seems like the South-eastern part of the US is real football country. They love the sport and there is sufficient population and high schools to make recruiting down there real easy as compared to the under populated Dakotas. How many 9 man players does SDSU have on its roster. A few. I doubt there are any high schools playing 9 or six men, although Charlie Daniels played six man ball way back in the 1950's.

At the same time they seem to be have dilema of status quo or going forward to a new level. Trying to get a crowd of 30,000 plus for every game takes a lot of work and promotion.

I guess Boise State would have to be their model for the move up. Also they should watch U of Idaho that has talked of moving back to FCS classification. Here is two schools within one state that have moved up and they are a tale of two cities. Hard to say what is the good answer here and not gratiful that SDSU is not thinking about moving up any time soon.
