  • Holdren and Gilbert

Steve Holdren is not listed on the Illinois roster for his Senior year and Andre Gilbert is not on the Kansas State team for his Senior year. Does anyone know if these two are out of basketball all together? Last year might have been a lot different with those two on the squad.

I had forgot about this incident, but think he did return at the end of the year?

He played at the end of the year but I thought I had heard he wouldn't be back. I don't know about Steve but Illinois was bad last year and I suspect changes were planned.

        Re: Holdren and Gilbert

Gilberts scholarship was not renewed for the 2008-09 season. Here is the link to their fan board, and if you do a search for Andre Gilbert, all the details will come up.

I can not tell you anything about Holdren. I suspect their fan sites like the one at KSU might tell you something. The fans seem to have all the details.

I'm guessing Weber fully supported his decision not to play this year. I know the family through my aunt who lives in their neighborhood. Good family, good kid, college basketball just didn't work out for him. That knee injury really screwed up his athletic career. He will be fine in the long run.

It looks like Gilbert is still playing. He's just hurt.

His knee injury nearly screwed me up...I can still hear the shriek of pain as he collapsed under the basket. Brought back to many memories of my old knee problems......*shiver*

Where did you find that he is "still playing" and where is Gilbert still playing?. Gilbert lost OR gave it up, depending on how you view it, his scholarship at K-state. I realize this is not the best source of information, but a KSU fan found him working at a mall in the twin cities.

Sorry. I misread a posting at KSUfans.com. It was a posting made Oct. 12, previewing KSU's Midnight Madness, and mentioned Gilbert. But it turns out the posting was from 2007, not 2008.

I think the mall sighting was a couple months ago. I don't know where Gilbert might be now.

I was watching from that side of the court too that night. Not the greatest scream in the world to hear from a BB player. Steve had a lot of talent before that injury. Sorry BB didn't work out for him but he is smart enough not to risk further injury and is going to focus on his education. Good luck to Steve.
