I recognize that team in red and white. They were on TV last week in Bismarck, of all places. They kicked the snot out of some community college from Missouri. I'm still wondering what the whole purpose behind the broadcast was.

Filling uppaid TV time, apparently. There couldn't have been many viewers.

That explanation makes some sense, but in Bismarck? Seriously - it took a minute or two of staring at the TV to figure out who was playing. 20/20 hindsight - I think it's a good thing that I didn't recognize them right away. Still wondering why they actually televised a game with an NAIA (I think) team. They must be proud.

Montana State. I find it impossible to cheer for the school down south no matter who they play.

Well, I have degrees from both institutions also, and although I do wish USD is successful in their transition, I can't cheer for them. I cheer (very quietly) for some of the players because I know some of their family, but never for the Coyotes.

I friend of mine is a huge Packers fan. His wife is at least as much of a fan as the Vikings. They love each other very much, but neither would be caught dead with the other teams colors on them. I think they both would love to have the chance to beat the other team in the NFC championship game AFTER screaming for the other team to lose in the other playoff games.

USD or whoever is ALWAYS whoever.

As a fan of sports in South Dakota, I'm interested in what USD does now that they're FCS in football and D1 in everything else. I really can't stomach pro sports for the most part, so it's fun for me to follow USD because I'm a fan of college sports in general. I'm not rooting for them. I'm not really rooting against them. But I'm interested in what they're doing. It's one more thing to follow.

I pretty much agree, but I always lean a little toward cheering for teams from South Dakota over those from other states.

There's a little bit of gratification that would occur if the Yotes make it through the season skunked vs D-I, including a loss vs. UND in Vermillion.
