NSU's Coach Meyer

Northern State University Basketball Coach, Don Meyer's left leg was amputed below the knee today. Apparently the leg was in bad shape from the auto accident and was not healing ... further complicating treatment for the cancer that was discovered during the treatment for the injuries from the accident. Friends of the coach say the amputation will only speed his return to the court because now the docs can address the cancer.

Meyer is highly regarded and has a wide-reaching reputation. I don't know him but sounds like he's one of the good guys.

This is sad, but sounds like Coach Meyer is not a quitter and with the new limbs that are made nowdays and the theraputic resources available, I expect he will be coaching. I think they mentioned that the cancer detected was in his liver and another internal organ and seemed to be treatable. The accident injuries were serious. I wish him the best. NSU needs him to fill Barnett.
