    OU Sooners Equip Room

    Saw this posted somewhere else and thought some might like to take a look.

          In 2001, the debt-ridden Sooner athletic program borrowed $12 million from the academic side of the university. That year, $19 million was cut from academic programs at OU. That should give you an idea of the kind of priorities lead to equipment rooms like that.

              It's part of why I can't stand Oklahoma! They get away with anything. OU knew FULL well about the Rhett Bomar mess from the very beginning.

                          I tend to believe in the whole quality over quantity thing. Unless its really good quality, then I want it in quantity.

                          To actually add to the discussion, if anyone has seen the equipment room in the locker room would know why I'm amazed when I see these palaces. Basically anything over 5000 square feet is just showing off.

                            Not sure about the whole helmet thing at OU since they have such a great tradition down there. You would think they would be focused on that rather than being the Imelda Marcos of football helmets.

                            I had a chance to tour a number of the new facilities in Lincoln. The place is an absolute palace and admittedly a little over the top. The weight room, indoor practice facility, training facilities, Heisman Trophy Room, and the pavillion are just stunning.

                            Right, wrong, or otherwise it is the price to play at the highest level of college football. Are the priorities a little out whack? Probably. But it sure is pretty!
