  • Division II Playoffs

Here is the bracket for Division II:

Look at the bottom right to see who's in. After all this talk about NSU not being able to play USD, now they get their chance.

    Games start March 15th:

    NSU vs. USD

    Mankato vs. Augustana

    Neb. Omaha vs. Fort Lewis

    Winona State vs. Colorado Christian

Looking over those names, SDSU did not belong there.

We are so much more like the FCS schools, and like that we're a competitor to Big 10/12 schools also.

Although they are struggling to demonstrate it, USD is more like an FCS than they are DII. It would be nice to see an NCC school win the national title in some sport before it fades away with the last out of baseball/softball season.

This may be a little smacky, but I'm going ahead anyway. As I opened the link with the brackets, I couldn't help but think that I don't ever remember anyone ever asking me if I had got my brackets filled out and referring to D2.

I think (at the risk, perhaps, of re-igniting another silly discussion) that state flagship universities like SDSU and USD belong in Division I, precisely because they are state flagship institutions.

It is is interesting that two teams are undefeated. Bentley in New England and Grand Valley in Grand Rapids Michigan. Would that not be something if they met in the finals both with a goose egg in the loss column?

Its interesting, but I dont miss D2. Some of the high powered schools usually have some very good D1 transfers. Cal Bakersfield now D1 used to build their program around D1 transfers. Good luck to Winona as I think they have a very good chance of getting to the finals again plus they host the Regional. I would be surprised to see USD getting in the next round. Yep its the chance that NSU probably has been waiting for.
