Could this be one of those situations where you don't want to be the guy following Carr, but you definately want to be the guy following the guy after Carr. Would you really want to step into into the current situation when Carr has been good, but just not good enough. Seems like a no-win situation for whomever it is. The next guy in however could be the "savior" if things don't go so well.

I was just talking to friend about this situation today. The fact that they can't get a good candidate makes you wonder what is going on at U-M. This is starting to look like the Nebraska debacle when they hired Callahan. Trust me, won't happen at all. They won't go after a guy that Michigan State turned away, and there was a transfer situation (not allowing a kid from Detroit to leave Cincy for MSU) that has left Kelly's name as mud in the Detroit Public League.Originally posted by JackJD View Post

I'll bet the workload is about the same as any of those programs so, take the money and perhaps have a tiny bit less alumni pressure...stay at Rutgers.

Interesting to see. WNAX was mentioning that Tom Osborne made $138,000 is last year coaching NU. Got a $50,000 bonus for the N.C. and gave it to his assistance. In 1999 5 coaches made more than $1,000,000 now 54 coaches do.Originally posted by JackJD View PostLeave a comment:

Sure, someone will coach Michigan. But, another party on the short list, Schiano from Rutgers, has removed his name from consideration.

Who wants to go to Michigan? No doubt many do, but is Michigan going to have trouble getting the absolute top-tier coach the program deserves? Lloyd Carr wasn't paid as well as coaches at schools with less tradition than Michigan...I wonder if Michigan is having trouble luring away great coaches from other programs because the other programs can win a war of dollars. I suppose Michigan alums are weighing in both with opinions and dollars (to the right candidate).
Any predictions?
