UND Athletic Director resigns

I see in the story in the Argus that UND's AD has resigned.

This might make a move a little more difficult at this time, even though he has been on leave for a few months.

This should be very interesting to follow. I'm assuming they have been planning on this for quite some time and finally negotiated a a way for Buning to leave under "his own terms" and the replacement is waiting in the wings.

YES..... Athletic directors have different idea's if I was USD I would want somebody with similiar idea's....

It will no doubt come out that the resignation of UND's AD is all part of the master plan cooked up the head muckety-mucks at USD.

Things are really starting to come together for the 'Yotes!

Buning's future at UND has been in doubt for months so finally it comes out! I do not believe it will have much effect on UND's move or its so-called 'alliance' with USD. I have nothing to base it on but it seems the UND / USD connection is quite loose. SDSU and NDSU had a plan. I do not believe UND and USD formed a similar plan.

Maybe the "alliance" is stronger than I thought. Here's a quote from USD Ath. Dir. Nielsen in today's Volante, the USD student newspaper. This quote is part of an article about the UND nickname controversy. A link to the story is provided below.

"We were anticipating some kind of ruling or settlement sooner rather than later," USD Athletic Director Joel Nielson said. "It provided a distraction to The University of North Dakota, which in turn caused a distraction to USD because of our close partnership."

I do not believe UND and USD formed a similar plan.

Not to nitpick, but this would assume USD has a plan. I guess some would argue that "no plan" is indeed a viable plan, so maybe I am nitpicking.
