So I was looking at data for Ticket Sales Revenue and I knew SDSU had strong ticket sales but did not realize just how strong when compared to like universities. So I am listing only public schools because they provide this data, but not private schools.
For the Big Sky, here are ticket sales for 2023.
Montana.................$6,506,000
Mont. State.............$4,690,000
Sac. State.................$725,000
Weber State..............$702,000
Eastern Wash...........$604,000
U of Idaho.................$550,000
Northern Arz.............$540,000
Northern Colo...........$438,000
Portland St................$207,000
So obviously Montana leads the pack and Montana St. is right behind, but they are way ahead of anyone else in that conference
Lets move onto the Missouri Valley
Ill. St....................$1,440,000
Southern Ill..........$1,320,000
Murray St.............$1,310,000
Northern Iowa.....$1,140,000
Missouri St.............$810,000
Indiana St..............$630,000
Those are pretty low numbers for an upper mid-major conference.
Lets see what the Summit has for Ticket Sales
SDSU.................. $5,990,000
NDSU.................. $5,900,000
UND.....................$5,404,000
Omaha.................$3,222,000
USD.....................$1,220,000
UMKC.....................$131,000
I know a couple of these schools have hockey, but still pretty strong numbers for the Summit League.
So then I decided to look at G5 schools to see where SDSU would fit in for ticket sales
Here is the G5
The Other SDSU.......$9,772,000
UNLV.........................$8,488,000
Eastern Carolina........$7,900,000
Boise St.....................$7,717,000
Reno-Nevada............$7,502,000
Fresno St..................$6,485,000
Army..........................$6,455,000
SDSU would be next school for ticket revenue compared to all G5 schools. So we would be the 8th highest ticket revenue school if we were in G5. University of Montana would be 6th on this list. NDSU would be 9th. I know ticket revenue is not the same as athletic budgets, but at least SDSU plays to full crowds when we play at home. I would expect these numbers to go up next year with the First Bank & Trust remodel. I know the suites and loge seats should raise our ticket revenue some.
Also looking at the Missouri Valley, if you take out Missouri State, since they will be G5 in a year, SDSU had more ticket sales than, Ill. St., Southern Ill., Murray St., Northern Iowa and Indiana St. COMBINED!!
So if your interested in looking at other segments of revenue and expenses, you can see all of the data https://knightnewhousedata.org/fcs#!...re_the_money-1
