Good for you! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
I respect the heck out of anybody that sticks with their team through the good and bad. I just hate the bandwagon riders. Look at how many Husker fans came out of the woodwork when they were winning a few years ago! Where did they go? [smiley=undecided.gif] They have no doubt headed for greener pastures!
I love tradition and loyalty to a team. It just bothers me when the rules in place allow for unfair advantages. Notre Dame and the Yankees aren't doing anything wrong, in fact, I would be doing the same thing given the opportunity.
My dislike for Notre Dame has nothing to do with the institution at all, rather the situation that is in place!
SUPERBUNNY
I think those husker fans went to go "cheer" on UNO Nebraska's redheaded evil stepchild.
I don't know much about him. It looks like he has a pretty solid background, hopefully, he can do some good things as a head coach at Bemidji State. I don't get to BSU games often, usually just when they are down here playing Concordia-St. Paul.
Coach Bowen should work out pretty well for Bemidji. He is a hard worker, good recruiter, & learned from a few good coaches: Homer Drew, & while at UAB, Gene Bartow, a former Valpo coach :-).
Iowa — met my wife in our Ph.D. program there
Wyoming — by marriage (wife's M.A. from Wyo)
Purdue — first professor jobs for both of us, plus, and Purdue graduates its student athletes almost as well as SDSU does; and there is a geek-cheering squad of pocket-protector-types with a giant drum... who wouldn't like that?
Least favorites:
Oklahoma (cheaters, nobody graduates, obnoxious fans, gun-toting geek cheering squad called the Red-Neks... ugh)
Men's BB - Maryland. Got to see the Terps knock of then #1 UCLA in triple OT at the Cole Center many years ago. Seats were about 5 rows up on the south (I think, equivalent of Frost's west end). ESPN was still relatively new and broadcast the game. Lefty Driesel coached an unbelievable game, as UCLA was clearly more talented, but couldn't get it done.
Football - haven't followed it very closely since Joe Montana left Notre Dame and the recap show on Sunday Mornings was cancelled. This is also what brought me into being a 49ers fan, since prior to that I didn't really follow the NFL.
WBB - only SDSU, but have followed Maryland since they hired away MN's coach.
DOOK is the school I love to hate. Talk about a holier than thou attitude. ND fans are way down the ladder compared to the Dookies.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you can never teach a stupid dog anything.
The only way ND joins a conference is if the BCS division mandates conference affiliation. By the way, not sure why ND gets looked down on for having a deal with NBC. Can't think of ANY school that would turn that down, especially if you look at the state of college football at the time the deal was set. They made a deal that works for them, especially when they are doing well.

I would have to say I am just a fan of college sports. I usually pull for the Big 10 during the NCAA tournament and bowl games and the Mountain West.
Specifically:
Michigan (Hail to the Victors) Best Fight Song
Penn State (WE ARE.....PENN STATE!! and Jo Pa)
Minnesota (THe Pediatric Clinic and Specialist were my doctors as a youth)
Colorado State University (Sonny Lubick)
Wyoming (Cowboy Joe and Joe Glen)
Air force (All academies and Fisher DeBerry)
All great coaches
Utah (BCS busters)
ACC
Florida State (Chief Oseola and Renagade)
Virginia Tech
Clemson (Howards Rock)
Pac 10
USC (Song Girls)
Big 12
Texas (love Austin)
Texas A&M (Home of the 12th man, best traditions of any campus)
Basketball-
North Carolina
UMass (back in the day)
Kansas
UCLA (Wooden)
Duke (except when they play Carolina)
Baseball
College World Series in general
LSU (Cajuns are crazy)
USC
Wichita State U.

I don't blame then for making the deal, it was a no-brainer for the university. I just think it is unfair to the rest of the NCAA. I know I should take the frustration out on the NCAA but it is easier to target the Notre Dames and Yankees of the world.
THEY SHOULD ALMOST NEVER LOSE A GAME WITH THE THINGS THEY HAVE GOING FOR THEM AT NOTRE DAME!!!
