HSU football is back in a conference

After one year as an independent program, the Humboldt State football team is expected to become a part of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference beginning in the fall of 2008.
According to HSU athletic director Dan Collen, the move will become official once the GNAC votes on the matter. But the vote seems to be a formality, as each individual institution has already agreed to make the move.
”I am very pleased,” said Collen. “This is something we've been working on behind the scenes since the day we went independent.”
The conference will comprise Humboldt, Central Washington and Western Washington, both of which opted to move to the North Central Conference last year, which is dissolving, Dixie College and Western Oregon.
”It will be a home-and-home format,” said Collen. “So each team is guaranteed eight Division II games.” . . . . (read more)
Good for Humboldt and Western Oregon, I always thought it kind of sucked that Western and Central left them high and dry, heck they even picked up a school (Dixie State College of Utah).
