I think this says that they won't be joining The Summit League, which again strikes me really odd. It would save them money and probably build them name recognition.
I understand that the state is in term oil because of falling oil prices but a little surprised that they'd move to cut baseball this quickly, sport has had a long (and fairly successful) history at the school, even though they fight weather every year.
UND's President (interim -- former Gov. Shaeffer) has to make significant budget cuts due to shrinking state assistance. NDSU has to make some cuts too. Some have suggested the cutting of baseball and men's golf is at least part of the solution to trying to offer FCOA.
