I just read this and found it interesting and maybe somewhat like our situation. Ash won three conferences titles and had a W-L record of 70-38 (.648 win percentage) in his nine years there. Those are damn good numbers. By comparison Stig is 128-89 (.590 win percentage).
I'm not going to take a stance on whether Stig is or should be on the hot seat, but our peers are firing coaches that have better numbers than Stig. A quote from the MSU AD was particularly interesting.
"We have a lot of really good things going here and have to have somebody who’s a really good fit,” Fields said, adding that he “truly believes we should be in the top 10 (nationally) all the time. With the resources we’re putting into it, we should be up there.”
