    Re: The basketball transfers begin.

Wheeler has some nice hop. Not sure why he is leaving, but, his tweets give clues. Jake Wright seems to be Bittle-esque. Dream on about Tyus Jones. May want to watch for his little brother, a HS freshman this year.

      Re: The basketball transfers begin.

From the Albany area newspaper reports , it sounds like Baker wants to play closer to home. And you're right about Tyus Jones - the only way he plays in Minnesota in the future will be either for or against the T-Wolves (and that could be as soon as next year).

Just so we're clear: The Tyus Jones reference was made "tongue-in-cheek."

See IUPUI picked up Syracuse transfer Ron Patterson.

            How good is Patterson?

            Here are some stats:

Looks to have slivers to remove as he rode the pine well at Syracuse. No doubt a very good player if Boheim recruited him.

@AndyRennecke: Point guard Jordan Poydras is transferring from St. Cloud State after 3 years at the school. Poydras wants to transfer to a D-I school.

Does anyone remember why he didn't go DI the first time around? According to his rivals profile he had a Northern Iowa and an Army offer, if I remember right he had a fair amount of other interest as well and it was someone of a surprise when he went to St. Cloud St.

My guess is he'll have to walk on if he wants to play D-I for 1 year, and if he is going to do that, he might as well go Big 10, my guess is he'll end up at Wisconsin.

That's an interesting option to pursue as well for the Jacks.

Poydras definitely has the ability to play at the DI level, as he is a lanky point guard (6'3") who averaged 20.0 ppg, 4.3 apg, and 1.5 steals/game at SCSU. Having him come in and learn the system for a red shirt year and then take over for the 2016-17 season would allow the coaching staff to ease Cole Gentry into the college game as a backup (for presumably his red shirt freshman season) instead of throwing him into the fire as a starter or forcing us to move a combo guard over to play the point.

Here is a highlight video of Poydras for the 2014-15 season (video is in black till 1:17):

Could be a good one, but he has only one year of eligibility left, and he would have to learn the Nagy defense. Might take more than one season.

He would have to sit out a year if he transfers to Div I. So whatever Div I school he goes to he will be there 2 seasons.

Just saw that former Jack Matt Donlan , currently at Iowa Western CC will be moving on and playing at Youngstown State.

you would think Baker would prefer Summit over the Big Sky.

I ran into Theisen today on campus. He said that he knew that Wheeler was transferring, but he hadn't spoken with him on it much. However, Ian said the coaches were going to give Baker a call tonight. We are obviously expressing interest.

On Zimmer's chat today , someone said Baker has some former AAU teammates and friends in Grand Forks.

Isn't there a dead period during the Final Four week when coaches can't have any contact with recruits ? Probably would explain why there hasn't been any news/rumors lately about interest or commitments.
