The two schools would be good additions as they both play baseball and have swim teams. Both are areas where the Summit League currently hosts associate teams or are at the minimal numbers to have an auto-bid conference qualifier.
I think this would be assuming that the Big Sky would let them keep football in the Big Sky, its debatable whether or not they would allow it to occur, but with Idaho joining the conference, it adds another team, they cannot like traveling to North Dakota though. There are 5 schools in the Summit League that are closer to North Dakota then the closest Big Sky program, in MBB and WBB its not a huge issue, but when the non-revenue sports are traveling on bus like that it gets very expensive.

Re: UMCK getting a visit from the Valley?

I have been away and not responding recently. Very often a site visit means the decision is almost a done deal subject to a major surprise so is the Valley looking at adding 4 teams and going to 13?

If so the Horizon would be down to 6 with only Green Bay, Milwaukee, Cleveland State, Detroit, Wright State and Youngstown State left. That would leave them in real trouble and perhaps set up some major movements between the Summit and Horizon or perhaps even some type of merger. The Summit would be in the stronger position of the two.The two leagues would have a total of 15 teams subject to further changes. I could see the following being fairly nice divisions.

      East

      Detroit
      Oakland
      Cleveland State
      Youngstown State
      Wright State
      IUPUI
      IPFW

      West
      Green Bay
      Milwaukee
      Western Illinois
      North Dakota State
      South Dakota State
      South Dakota
      Omaha
      Denver

I can't find the link but it seems like Douple said something about merger and three conferences when he was here. Could this be what he was talking about?

The only way a merger would happen is if the NCAA got involved, and from reports they won't.

Anonymous sources have confirmed to @PantherU that UIC to the MVC is all but official. MVC was impressed during on-campus visit this week.
