I don't think the article saying what the video contained had been posted with JackMD posted what he did and I don't think he condoned those actions.

I agree, if the article is accurate, his actions are disturbing at best.

      Really a weird situation.

      I have a few questions/comments:

Did the school really publicly shame him (escort him off the practice field) and suspend him before charges were filed or the police had even talked to him? Seems like he could be getting a hefty settlement if found not guilty.

Is there any other evidence on his home/school pc, laptop, or other devices? If so, why isn't he being charged for that material? Seems to me a person who was truly into this stuff would probably have more than a few cell phone videos of his own kids...

Did he attempt to distribute these videos to other people?

Unless there is additional evidence (emails, computer files, texts, distribution, etc) I can't really see a jury convicting and am a little surprised they are even prosecuting. And even if a jury doesn't convict, like Ed Meirkort said, the damage to his reputation is irrevocable.

Correct. When I made my comment no specific details had been released. If indeed the description provided in the article is accurate then I have some concerns about his intent. If he instructed them to behave in the manor described or taped them unknowingly I think there is a major issue and he needs to explain himself. If he distributed these images to others, especially if it was for compensation, then he is a criminal/ felon. If he made them for his own pleasure then he is a pervert and may or may not be a felon. That will depend on circumstances. It's odd and bizarre and by description well beyond what most of us would consider acceptable for sure. In the end, whatever is best for the children is what needs to happen.

As an aside, there were arrests all over the country this week as the result of a federal investigation of child pornograpgy.

I wonder if it was written that way because it was to be read on a TV broadcast.

Well I am seventy-1-year old and most young folks seem to have more rapid rate of speaking and its tough to understand what exactly they are saying sometimes. I am not into child porn, btw.

I'm curious about what the school did wrong . They found a video of a naked nine year old girl bending over and exposing herself, and a naked eight year old boy fondling himself on a school-owned cell phone that an employee turned in for repair. They turned the phone over to authorities, and put the employee on leave (paid leave I believe). After seeing what happened at Penn State,I can't imagine any other college would do anything different.

This is a jury that I would not want to be seated on.

I agree, its bad to charge someone who is innocent and put them out in the media, but its even worse not to pursue a potential crime because of being to policitally correct. It is a case of better safe then sorry. Regardless of what the outcome assuming her story is correct, eitherway he wont be staying at mankato and people who have seen his family and the embaressment his kids would go through. probably better to find another gig IMO. Hopefully that is the case, but due to how senstive it is with kids. We deleted all the pictures of my son when he would take a bath playing and being cute, but just something that either could be taken the wrong way or opens up a slippery slope. I think MSU did the right thing and should not have to apologize or pay out regardless of the outcome of a potential trial.

Exactly, in the face of the Penn State scandal you cannot fault the person in IT for making superiors aware and you cannot fault school administration for turning the information over to the authorities. How the authorities are handling it should be under the direction of precedent and in line with usual procedures which should also be well defined. That said, there are plenty of lawyers willing to try anything in a civil court.

I understand where the school was at and what they did. I'd do the same thing if I was in the same position (and some schools have policies where they are required to). But I also understand the business of it and I understand why a lawsuit would happen (if found not-guilty) and why they would have to pay up.

Was a Grand Jury used? Haven't heard 1 mentioned and from reading about the type of case it was, sounds like it would be the perfect type of case for a Grand Jury. Unless its the timing and they needed something done quicker then a Grand Jury could deliver. Just seems like if they had a Grand Jury (that took forever) for Sandusky where the evidence was wide spread, etc. That they could have used one here.

This is a tough rope to walk. No matter what, His families life will change dramatically. If found innocent it will still be pretty hard to go out in public. Pretty hard to be able to coach football. His kids will now be teased about it for a long time. If found guilty then he will get what he deserves. Too me he sounds innocent but should've known bettern than to have that on his phone. Why would the IT guy be watching videos and looking at pictures on the coaches phone anyway?
