The A-10 is losing Temple next year, and I can't imagine they'd turn down a two time championship game participant.

Hard to imagine that Oakland wouldn't be on a shortlist of potential replacements for Butler.

That's possible, but the loss of IUPUI to the Horizon would be as detrimental in terms of conference stability.

Don't disagree but a 2/3 vote by member schools trumps.

Also interesting. If Butler leaves Horizon they go to 5 schools for baseball and jeopardize ncaa autobid. I believe Oakland has baseball. I don't think IUPUI has baseball.

It would seem like IUPUI would be the natural replacement, can't argue with that. That said I'd much rather lose a school like IUPUI that has minimal support vs a well supported mid-major like Oakland.

Both are in the same city, I'm pretty sure Detroit believes being in the Horizon gives them an edge on Oakland plus there seems to be some bad blood between the schools.

But it's also entirely possible that the Horizon may decide like the Summit to stay at nine all-sports members (and, possibly the Horizon baseball schools join, as affiliates for that sport in . . . wait for it . . . the Summit League).

(Or, the Summit League baseball schools join the Horizon as affiliates. Either way works.)

Yeah, but how likely is that? They know they can pull a tenth team out of the Summit, and the Summit had a higher conference RPI than the Horizon this year.

Do they want to share their NCAA tournament stash (i.e. all those shares Butler earned for them in their Final Four runs) with another school right off the bat, or do they want to wait a couple of years until those roll off?

Not happening but for fun: HL receives Oakland, IUPUI and IPFW: SL receives UW-GB and UW-M: I ran it through ESPN trade machine and all salaries match up.

Is the plot thickening?

A10 to add quality new PROGRAMS (note plural--quote towards the end of the letter . . . what does the Duquesne president know that the rest of us don't, yet?)

What if, hypothetically, the A10 added Butler AND Oakland? They're currently at 14, they're losing Temple to the Big East, so what if they add THREE--say Butler, Oakland, and one of the Horizon Chicago schools, or Cleveland State maybe?
