  • D-I's top 3-pt shooter booted from school

Jordan Burgason, the senior guard at Lipscomb who was DI's top three-point shooter (52.6 per cent) was dismissed from the school for an unspecified violation of team rules.

    Ouch.

Lipscomb trivia -- things you don't need to know but may be able to work into a conversation:
    • Northern State's recently retired, and nationally-known and respected coach Don Meyer, was at Lipscomb, then NAIA, before coming to Northern. My recollection (somewhat fuzzy) was Lipscomb was routinely in the hunt for the NAIA national title under Meyer's tutelage and the school wanted to change to NCAA and go DI. Meyer didn't think that was a good idea and he went to Northern. Lipscomb soon after Meyer's departure, moved to NCAA DI.
    • Lipscomb's team name: Bisons. So, who's correct? Is the plural of Bison just Bison or Bisons? Apparently both are permitted although the more common is Bison as used by our friends in the frozen north.

From the tone of the statement from Mr. Burgason, it appears more details will be forth coming. It would appear something very bad has happen here. I know I often speak out of turn on such matters, but he did more than miss bed check.

http://www.lipscombsports.com/Looks like it's just another in the long line if mistakes by ESPN's writers. They are the Bison, not the Bisons.

Yep, just the Bison, same as several other college teams including Oklahoma Baptist, Bucknell, Howard, and some place called NDSU. U of Manitoba (CA) = Bisons (although it seems they're a little inconsistent because some of their information shows "Bison").
