Re: Lindenwood knocks off Northern Colorado 22-20.
Well Lindenwood will not sneak up on the Yotes now. That being said - last years UNC program was the worst team I saw the Yotes play last season (and that includes NW Okla St.). Sad that UNC has let their program die like it has in the move up a division - wonder what has happened to them? Anyone know?

I took a look at their offical website. Earnest Collins Jr. is the new head coach and was a former player in the mid 1990's. I dont recall him specifically but he had both the Jacks and yote numbers in his playing days at UNC. He was at Alcorn State two years before coming back to UNC. He brought some of his staff at Alcorn with him. Collins was an assistant at NW Missouri State for several years before going to Alcorn. They seem to be recruiting close to home which produced a winner at the D2 level. At the next level it might not work as well. I thinking with a new coach and new staff, they might not have had their guys ready yesterday. Give Lindenwood credit, they were apparently ready to play and were not awed by their FCS opponent. I going to follow UNC and see what happens with the rest of their season.

Northern Colorado hasn't been the same since Joe Glenn left them as head coach. I don't know how good Lindenwood is, but I know the last few years that UNC football has been a joke for an FCS school.

You are giving all the past success at UNC to a USD grad? How dare you?
I wonder what Joe is up to now days besides living off his buy out from Wyoming. I guess he got a few bucks. Another coach from the NCC comes to mind and that is UNO's Pat Behrns whose status I asked Stig about, and he told me he is living in Omaha with bitter taste in his mouth. He got only two years of salary as separation pay. Can you blame him? I asked a followup question about Behrn's being an assistant on Stig's staff and he said, he would never be comfortable, plus he is pushing 60 years old, and about to or has closed his career. I suspect the same situation applies to Joe Glenn. Joe too would be about 60.
Re: Lindenwood knocks off Northern Colorado 22-20.
Looking at UNC's struggles in the Big Sky, and the Big Sky's struggle with UND's nickname, I wonder if the conference isn't secretly kicking itself for not extending an invitation to SDSU and NDSU when they had a chance. Not that we'd accept now... I think both schools are very happy in the MVFC and The Summit League. The Big Sky's loss was the MVFC and Summit's gain.

Please no. Stop this talk about a reconstituted NCC. Move on. SDSU and NDSU did not move up to DI to get back with UNI and reconstitute the NCC. SDSU needs to look to bigger and better things. It would make more sense to have talk of DSU and DWU moving up to DII and reconstitute the SDIC.

If the Summit were to pick up Northern Colorado & UND, that reconstituted NCC would truly be there again.
UNC is not coming back east and if anything, the schools fb program needs to get its act together or it could be dropped entirely. The state of Colorado is still struggling with higher education budgets and UNC FB is definitely NOT paying for itself. The program has been a mess ever since Glenn left and the program was handed to Kay Dalton. When they brought in Scott Downing it seemed to be based on his connection to the UNL program. The problem is he was unable to recruit against CSU and Wyoming for the second tier D1 talent in the Denver area, and didn't seem to have the recruiting connections to move further west into Big Sky territory. Collins was a good choice but he was brought in late last year which left him behind in recruiting. I don't see the school giving him more then 3 years before they pull the plug on the program or bring in another coach as they try to get back to respectability.

Nothing bothers me more than when I hear Dave Boots or other USD supporters tout their move to DI as an attempt to recreate the NCC. The move to DI wasn't about leaving the NCC or DII behind it was about moving forward. So, I consider it an insult to SDSU and NDSU when others talk like we left the NCC behind. I don't personally believe that the motivation for the move to DI should have large amount to do with previous rivalries. It isn't that they aren't important they just aren't THE MOST IMPORTANT thing. If SDSU's motivation becomes only the rivalry with USD then we will both be at the bottom of the conference and DI ranks. SDSU needs to strive to be like the top teams in the FCS for football and the top mid-level DI programs in all other sports. If Boots and the coyote fans want to gun for us, fine, just don't get caught up in it. The NCC was great, its a thing of the past and should remain that way.
