Big 12 to sponsor Equestrian

In another decision that may have more far-reaching implications than are apparent, the Big 12 voted to sponsor championships in rowing and equestrian, adding both as women's sports. Presently, only Kansas, Kansas State, Texas and Oklahoma have rowing teams and only Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Baylor and Texas A&M have equestrian.



Maybe Jacks can get invited to join Big 12 as an associate member?

At the very least, I would expect SDSU to be invited to the Big 12 championship to help fill out the field. That's how UND gets invited to the C-USA swimming and diving championship every year. It's not the same as affiliate membership, but it's good experience and good PR.

One thing I noticed: The Big '12' is limiting the equestrian squad size to 32. SDSU has 43 riders on its equestrian squad.....
