  • Re: Colton Iverson

I'm sorry if this borders on smack, but all I'm saying is......

    http://www.argusleader.com/apps/pbcs...7-2dbcca15ceb7

.....as if we weren't already thankful enough that TV is our beat writer.

Mick's insight is something he read in the STrib. I don't mean to beat a dead horse, or serve up up Filbert's favorite pie, but it's sometimes pretty evident MG went to the -Pid school of journalism. Just sayin', Yote fans could expect a little better coverage and insight.

I'm not sure what your beef is? I don't think he tried to pass it off as "insight" like you seem to think. It appears to me that Mick was passing off a piece of information that he thought his readers would find interesting. I'm sure there are many readers that would like to know that information that don't subscribe to the STrib.

I agree with this. TV has passed information information along regarding SDSU before

I'm guessing Mic tried to get into contact with the Iverson's but was probably not able to. I'm not a fan of passing others information around but he did give them credit and from the sound of things the Iversons have stayed pretty quiet about the situation after they announced that Colton had been released.

As far as the rumors it seems accurate from what I've heard that if he transfers to a D-I its probably going to be Colorado State.

My point exactly. (The blue kool-aid I drink sometimes makes it difficult for me to look objectively at information coming from their camp. I guess I'm too cynical and biased to keep from getting snarky, that's all.)

You're not a fan of passing others information along? 1) that is the ENTIRE point of sports journalism. You have a source and you pass his or her information along to the readers. Sometimes you pass off other people's work. They like that, if you give them credit. Ask mango, as he is a real journalist. 2) that is ALL the internet is: passing off information you heard from somewhere else. That is what we do on this messageboard. TV tweets something that he learned from a source, and then someone on hear starts a thread and posts the information they learned from TV.

              OMG MICK GARRY COVERS USD.

              Asinine.

I know, and I agree I pass on a lot of links and so on, all what I think people are saying is with a situation like that wouldn't you want at least a phone call or a mention of efforts he has made. SDSU is lucky to have TV as their beat reporter and Mick is not a bad reporter by any means, it does seem however whether its the Argus, Mick or USD that at times he almost avoids some things. As far as the blog post, all what I think he was saying is its one thing to tweet a link, but to do a blog post and not ad any of your own information? He could have said the argus has made attempts to contact the Iverson family and they have not responded, or I've heard the same things from my sources. (Because from my own followings Charlie Walters gets a lot of things wrong)

i heard a report that stated iverson has an appt with colorado state and tim miles sometime this week. seems to fit right in with earlier reports that he would probably end up at CSU.

Miles was very interested in Iverson when Miles was at NDSU. When Yankton played at Watertown in Iverson's senior year, I talked to Tim (didn't talk specifically about Iverson...just generally chatted). Tim connects well with young people and it makes sense any program Miles is coaching would be a program Iverson would think about.

I agree,it did seem kind of short, and also about TV, he works very hard, and maybe enough credit isn't given to him for the hard work he puts forth. Then again,TV does have a great following!

This thread was begging to get stirred up again....

Articles from today's Yankton P&D states Iverson has had discussions with USD but is still looking around and hasn't made up his mind yet -- however, he's going to start narrowing the list.
