Guy sounds a lot like Stig

I like what Kill is saying, but i looked at the Goofer's commitment list and it doesn't have that many MN on it. Perhaps he is all talk, or maybe he needs a year or two to build up relationships.

It will take some time for Kill with the Gophers to get things going. Relationships need time to build. I like that Kill is honest and he won't blow smoke (Brewster) and tell the team that they can compete for the Rose Bowl in year 1. I think Kill is relying a lot on his Illinois and Chicago connections for now and will likely continue to use them.

He has a track record of winning everywhere he's been and that is a lot better than Brewster, whose claim to winning wasn't on the field. I wouldn't hang my hat simply on having a hand in recruiting Vince Young to Texas. (I'll guess he gave way to Mack Brown when talks got serious.)

And according to the Star Tribune's SuperPrep list in today's paper, Minnesota is landing 4 of the top 8 recruits in the state. That includes and lineman Tommy Olson, who is thought to be the state's top recruit. This is better than Mason or Brewster. Mason had no interest in recruiting Minnesota (choosing to recruit St. Louis and Ohio hard) and Brewster was all about getting Texas kids after talking about closing down the borders

The man didn't get hired until early December, and most of the assistants didn't get there until after the Northern Illinois bowl game in late December,so you have to give him a pass this year. Kill is the exact opposite of Brewster - he has shown the ability to coach kids up. He may work pretty well ,since Brewster did improve the talent level, even though it didn't show up in more wins.

several factors for the poor MN commits:

            1. Tim Breswter
            2. Tim Brewster
            3. Tim Brewster
            4. Tim Brewster
            5. MN is a little down on Talent

              Sadly, I can't argue this.

Although.. throwing in a little Glenn Mason into this recipe might actually give it the correct taste...

yeah its too bad they let his attitude flow as long as they did, but like I said MN next year should be better for quality players so we will see what Kill can do

I've got to ask. Does GT have a knack for finding the BCS teams that NDSU plays at their worst or what(UM/UM/KU/UM)??? I think those three teams had a total of what...4-5 wins combined?? And I'd be willing to bet UM has no more than 2 wins this coming season too...and that's if they take the Bison down....which would be an "upset" IMO.
While SDSU gets their BCS teams in Bowl years(minus ISU,2-10). Alla UM 2009, NU 2010. I'd be willing to bet by 2012, when the Jacks play them, Turner Gill will have KU back to Bowl elligiblilty also.
Just was wondering if GT has a trade secret that no one else does?

                    Go Jacks!!

I will continue to hold the belief that Brewster is good guy and a great players-type guy, but he couldn't coach AT ALL.

I'm so glad slosho threw in Glen Mason. Brewster worked hard at being the Gophers - he just wasn't any good. Mason just had this "meh" mentality after Minnesota got 6-7 wins in a season (see 2003 vs. Michigan). I just question how hard he worked to get Minnesota to the next level. He had Barber and Maroney and could only get to a couple of Music City Bowls.

Mason's "desire" left after Ohio State hired Tressel rather than grinnin Glen. That was his dream job at his alma mater, and he shifted into retired on the job mode after he didn't get that job. OSU can thank their lucky stars that they made that decision.

Not sure what this has to do with Gopher Recruiting Philosophy, but there is no way to know how good a team will be from year to year. Central Michigan when Scheduled was a 2 time MAC Champ and bowl winning team, they also did it the year we pounded them 44-14 at their place, Ball St well that was our first game ever against a FBS team. Kansas was in the Orange Bowl in 2008 and lets not forget they did beat #15 Georgia Tech and as for Minnesota they have sucked for so long you know what your getting but its a great regional game that gets you an great payday with little expense. Not sure if your looking to smack NDSU or not but that just the way it has been. Bohl has also stated Iowa won't schedule us and Wisconsin isn't hip to it either not sure why, but our 4-3 record against FBS (2 against the B10 and B12) doesn't help teams schedule what is essentially a "trap" game.

Here is who we have played in order:

                          Ball St W
                          Minnesota L
                          Central Michigan W
                          Minnesota W
                          Wyoming L
                          Iowa ST L
                          Kansas W
                          Minnesota (next year)

I imagine the scare Cal-Poly gave Wisconsin 3 years ago has them leary about scheduling any sort of FCS team at Cal Poly's level!
