  • DI South Dakota B-Ballers

A list of the DI Basketball players that hail from South Dakota.
Let me know if I missed anyone. If only we were to get every SD player to go to SDSU, we'd have a pretty salty team.

    Class of 2007
    Pacific SR - Sam Willard - Pierre - 16.5 pts / 10 reb / 1.5 ast
    SDSU SR - Dale Moss - Brandon Valley - 6 pts / 3 reb / 1 ast
    SDSU JR - Dwight Pederson - Volga - 1 pt / 1 reb / .3 ast

    Class of 2008
    Minnesota JR - Colton Iverson - Yankton - 6 pts / 6 reb / 1 ast
    USD JR - Louie Krogman - White River - 13.5 pts / 3 reb / 2.5 ast
    USD SO - Jordan Boots - Vermillion - 6 pts / 1 reb / 1 ast

    Class of 2009
    SDSU FR - Chad White - Madison - 10.5 pts / 5 reb / 1 ast
    SDSU SO - Tony Fiegen - Madison - 5 pts / 3 reb / .5 ast
    SDSU FR - Brayden Carlson - Brookings - 2.5 pts / 1 reb / .5 ast

    USD FR - Jared Bartling - SF Roosevelt - .5 pts / 2 reb / .5 ast
Florida FR - Cody Larson - SF Roosevelt - Redshirting
USD FR - Jack Foley - Centerville - Redshirting
USD FR - Jake Krogman - White River - Redshirting

One modifying statement, everyone that didn't choose USD we'd have an even saltier team.

OK, we would have taken Louie, I think.

Is Mark Tetzlaff's kid not playing basketball at USD?

One change I saw, Willard graduated in 2007, not 2006.

Not asked to return to the team, now at Northern. I think he is doing well there.

Thanks for the correction. He's one player I really wish SDSU would have been able to land. This SDSU team could use a senior post player who averages 16 & 10.

An interesting tidbit I noticed when getting the players stats, NDSU doesn't have a single player on their roster from North Dakota. Thought that was strange.

Well, according to just-released 2010 Census numbers:
              SD population: 814,180
              ND population: 672,591
              Difference: 141,589
              Or, SD's population is now 21% larger than ND's . . .

Are there anymore for 2011 that may go D-1 and follow up, how about potential 2012 D-1 players in the state?

Looking good for 2050, but I will be 109 when that happens, so I dont think it will be in my life time. With the oil boom in western ND, you would think you would have a seen a bigger bump for them, but maybe the 30,000 bump is because of the oil. Without the oil boom, it might have been a decline in totals.

The thing with the oil boom is who knows how you even count those people. Most don't have permanent housing and some work in ND two weeks and then head home for two weeks off. When the infrastructure in Western ND catches up to the boom is when the real population growth will take off.
