What's going on with Iowa Hawkeye football?

Last week senior wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos was arrested for multiple drug charges. Today, coach Kirk Ferentz announced redshirt sophomore running back Jewel Hampton has left the program and sophomore running back Adam Robinson has been suspended from the team.

ESPN has the story...the ESPN writer (blogger) says there may be more personnel changes announced tomorrow (Tuesday) -- a news conference with Ferentz and Iowa's AD is set for 11:00 am. Here's the story on ESPN.com: LINK

Iowa plays Missouri in the Insight Bowl. (Better: "Lack-of-Insight Bowl").

Maybe Brandon Wegher was smart to bail out of a bad situation.

The Insight Bowl has been taken off the board in Vegas until everything shakes out. Rumors on the Iowa boards is that more high profile players may go. Apparently after the WR was arrested everyone was required to take a drug test,and a number either failed or refused to be tested.

Now they are reporting they have to "tighten up" their drug testing program.

I was surprised that it takes two positive tests to be suspended - is that an NCAA or school policy ?

I don't know the answer to your question but I was shocked by that as well. If I had to guess it is an institutional policy as I figured most of us would know the NCAA rule by now if a blanket policy was already in place.

I think the theory is that it's possible for one test to be a false positive, but the chance of two being false positives is vanishingly small . . .

Wasn't it just a couple years ago that they had 11 off the field arrests? One of the kid was Ferentz son, who was arrested twice. I know Iowa fans worship Kirk, but, how long until this gets him the boot?
