Responsibilities of a College Coach

The current poll on ESPN.com asks "What should be the main responsibility of a college coach?"

The three choices are:

Win
Graduate student athletes
Role Model

Obviously a coach should do a combination of all three, but what is the 'main responsibility'? I think it is an interesting question, and I don't think there necessarily is a wrong answer.

I chose winning and am interested in what everyone else thinks.

It's sort of like the old parable of the man falling into a well and discovering a rope hanging over the pully at the top. He can reach both ends of the rope. Which one should he grab to climb back up? The answer is that he has to grab them both equally or he will pull the entire rope down into the well with him. I believe that a good coach will embrace them all equally. Only a few can do that and they are the ones who are truly successful.

I tend to have little respect for writers who ask questions like this. I think it shows that the writer has tunnel vision and is promoting that same lack of broad vision among his/her readers.
