They did and he is a beast from what I have heard. I think Castlewood will need their best game to get by Crofton, then its Larchwood or Canova, talk about a tough draw. My opinion, they got jobbed, of course, we could say the same thing about all the SCL teams being in the lower bracket.

Can't remember the scores, but here's the lowdown.

Akron beat Martin- Akron scored 3 runs in bottom of ninth all on walks to beat Martin by one.

Wessington-Miller beat Aurora- High-scoring game, W-M hit four homers from three players I believe.

Akron beat Martin 5-4 and Wessington-Miller beat Aurora 12-10. EDL's already 0-1 and it doesn't get any easier when Volga plays the Mudcats tonight. www.sdaba.com has a live webcast; Bryce has apparently been having problems with the live video, but I followed the webcast last night for a while and it seemed to be OK.

Maybe NEXT year is the year they finally go to a seeding process of some sort. That top bracket is BRUTAL!

It would be difficult to seed when schedules are so different and during the course of the season many teams have players missing quite a number of games. Somes teams are satisfied just making the tourney, whether their a District champ or a representative. Maybe all districts tournaments should carry more weight and have less teams in the State tourney.

have less teams and you'll ruin amateur baseball. for a lot of teams, its a long shot to get in as it is. if you take away teams, then theres a lot of teams that have nothing to play for. the cornbelt gets 6 teams in. most years, you know 4 for sure and maybe 5 that will go the the tourney. that leaves 7 or 8 teams battling for the last spot. you cut it down to 3 or 4 teams making the state tourney and those bottom teams have no reason to play. thats the cornbelt but im sure some of the other leagues are the same. maybe the top two teams in each league during the regular season, automatically gets in the state tourney and then somehow match everyone else up, not in districts. that way we get the best 32 in , instead of some of these leagues that deserve 0 that get 2, 3 or 4 in. colman finished 11th in the cornbelt but has 5 wins against teams that are in the state tourney, including dimock/emery. harrisburg in in from the cornbelt and they were 10th seed. the solution for colman might be to find a different league to play in, to give them a better chance of making it. and if they cut the number of teams down that get in the state tourney, they might just want to fold. how many other colmans are out there. btw, i want things to stay as they are. except they need to do something about bracketing. its way out of wack.

the bottom bracket isn't any easier..... you have 4 scl teams in the same 8 team bracket? maybe not as tough as the top bracket but nobody likes playing a team 3-4 times a year......

One thing I'd like to see them do is try to get rid of second round games with the same district teams....

I guess what I am saying is seeding will never work.... The only way to do it would be to have a committee do it but they'll never get it right either.... drawing is probably the fairest way to do it....

Agree about the SCL and the 2nd round games. The 2 Parkston teams could play each other in the 2nd round!

A little effort to determine the top 8 and flip-flopping a couple of teams into other brackets so you don't have that happen would not take a huge amount of time. Canova and Dell's Mudcats, the top 2 teams in the state the entire year, should not potentially play each other in the 3rd game.

There is never going to be a system that makes eveyone happy, but that should not stop anyone from trying to make it better.

Brandon Valley headed to Mitchell 2-0. Brookings, Aberdeen, RC Black Sox all going with 1-1 records. Yankton will play Renner Monarchs tomorrow to find out who the second 2-0 team is. The other will go 1-1. Renner Roadrunners and RC Green Valley have been eliminated. RC Green Valley forfeited its 2 games in Brookings this week-end.

Flandreau advances to Friday night with an improbable 9 inning comeback spread out over 2 days. Flandreau trailed 9-3 going into the bottom of the ninth and scored 4 runs and had runners on2nd and 3rd with nobody out when play was suspended Wednesday night because of rain. The game resumed at 5:30 today and the first batter struck out, then a single tied the game with the runner advancing to 2B on the throw home. An error put runers at the corners with 1 out. A steal of second led to an intentional walk and former Jackrabbit Rick Weber hit a sacrifice fly to win the game.

Canova scores 8 runs in the bottom of the eighth in order to beat the Mudcats 12-9. A very exciting game to watch. Almost left in the middle of the 8th thinking the Mudcats had it in the bag. I'm glad I stayed!

How about Miller-Wessington, going into the tourney at 11-12, making it to the semifinals.

Miller-Wessington made ketchup out of the Killer Tomatoes...

Sorry... had to say it. Too good to pass up!

plus you got to have a couple extra beers. i think its canova's year. id be totally shocked if wess/miller doesnt get 10 runned. wess/miller has had an easy go so far. platte finished 7th in the sunshine and was playing quite a few legion players. aurora was the only good team of the 8 teams in their bracket. a guy i know who plays for aurora said they played their worst game of the year. redfield beats menno tonight and pbr will knock off a tired flandreau team. theyre going to mitchell for the 3rd night in a row tonight and i think that will hurt them. canova beats wess/miller tommorrow and pbr over redfield. canova wins it all sunday, beating pbr. im a cornbelt fan so it has to happen that way.

                                Completely agree with your prediction.

PBR vs. Canova championship with Canova winning it.
