the eagles uniform they have for auction is pretty hot looking lol. and the cheerleader uniforms get the girls dressed up in that lol. hotness pure and simple.

You might look kind of cute in one of those cheerleading uniforms in the front row of a basketball game [smiley=shocked.gif] Just kidding!!!

It would be kind of cool to outfit a city league basketball team or something. Great idea for an intramural squad at SDSU.

Huron University bids adieu as auction begins

HURON, S.D. - As an auctioneer seeks bids on the last remaining parcels of the once-thriving Huron University, educators 4,200 miles across the globe will begin passing out diplomas from a school bearing the same name.

Huron University USA in London - established in 1989 as the South Dakota's school's branch campus - begins its graduation ceremonies at 3 p.m. Friday, London time.

At that same moment, 9 a.m. Central, buyers in Huron will begin competing for pieces of the South Dakota school's 123-year history.

"It's a shame that it's over," said R. John Reynolds, the college's president from 1984 to 1993. "It didn't have to be over, but it's just the circumstances and it came to that, I guess. There's not much you can do about it now." . . . (read more)

Former university campus fails to sell in Huron

HURON, S.D. (AP) -- The former Huron University campus failed to sell Friday when bidding fell short of the seller's minimum.

After individual bids on six land tracts totaled $116,000, auctioneers began taking bids on the six tracts as a single unit.

Bidding reached $262,500 for the package, but a U.S. Department of Agriculture representative then stipulated that the price needed to reach $600,000 to make a deal. There appeared to be three bidders vying for the single-unit campus, but none raised their yellow cards after the price tag jumped.

Campus sold

A Tacoma, Wash., real estate investment company has made the down payment on its offer to purchase the Huron University campus, and the deal will be closed in about a month.
Central Park LLC is the buyer, said Tom Gietzen, president of Farmers & Merchants Bank of Huron, the mortgage holder.
The company agreed to have its name disclosed after the down payment was wired to the bank Tuesday. Central Park LLC is managed by a company called Managing Green LLC.
At the closing, the buyer will pay the balance of the purchase price, which is not being disclosed at this time. However, at the May 5 auction — during which personal property and two lots were sold separately — the Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development office indicated, in rejecting a $262,500 bid for the buildings, that it needed a minimum of $600,000.
Gietzen said a representative of Central Park LLC told him Tuesday that they don’t know what they might do with the property. But he said they would be interested in meeting with parties interested in the real estate.
“They just said they would be willing to discuss options,” Gietzen said.
When asked why the Washington company was interested in the former university campus, Gietzen said they thought it was a good investment opportunity.


Looks like UNO is in big trouble if Huron U. could only raise $600,000 by selling the whole campus.
